Salt West “Radici in the sea” and Wind Workshop – Here’s how the Master of Wine and local producers want to return dignity and identity to the Stagnone di Marsala – Wine Blog Roll
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Salt West – The revalization project of the identity of the Marsala Stagnone reserve strongly desired by the 3 Italian Master of Wine (with their wind workshop), with the support of local producers and beyond!

There are places where nature has sculpted an unmistakable identity, which seem to shout their beauty to the world but which, at the same time, whisper their needs to the wind, often remaining unheeded. The Stagnone nato da Marsala is one of these: a unique, precious ecosystem and, unfortunately, frangibile and not adequately preserved.

Marsala wind workshop

Today, however, something is changing. The three Italian Master of Wine – Pietro Russo, Gabriele Gorelli and Andrea Lonardi – have decided to translate the potential of one of the most photographed and lovers by tourists, as well as a historic fulcrum of Marsali viticulture (and not only), per mezzo di an act of love for a territory that dwell his need for lega, of help, of revenge. Thus was born Salt West, a revaluation project that combines sustainability, identity and quality.

The key principles of the Salt West proclama:

Schieramento

Historical perimeter of the Stagnone Reserve;

Vineyards

of at least 10 years variety Estro, Catarratto and Inzolia protection of the historical vineyards of new systems of maximum selection

Environmental sustainability

Vineyards of ownership ora directly conducted by winemakers forbids of herbicides and insecticides

Wine style

High grade white naturals fortified natural grade

An initiative that cannot be separated from the support of local producers and the involvement of other actors who insist the territory, and which has already led to the birth of a collective brand and 3 wines presented yesterday per mezzo di Bologna, the occasion of the Tasting of Wine & Tasting. Three basic references Estro different per mezzo di the interpretation – which must, deliberately, have ample room for maneuver allowing the producers to express their personality, per mezzo di compliance with the territorial identity – but united by a leitmotif of the sunshine, wind and sea that the Stagnone knows how to imprint with every wine produced there. Bottles recognizable by the identity organoleptic spectrum but, even before the tasting, from the logo they bring as a dowry: “roots per mezzo di the sea”.

Logo Salt West Radici in the Marsala Sea Logo Salt West Radici in the Marsala Sea

A logo that highlights the proximity from the sea of the Vineyards of the Stagnone which, of course, see their vines sink their radical apparatus per mezzo di a limestone vassoio spranging by slopes of fresh vater capable of allowing the plants to and vegetate luxuriantly. A pedological balance that goes hand per mezzo di hand with a microclimate capable of mitigating the results of climate change and of making this zona ideal for quality viticulture today and, also, per mezzo di a future perspective.

Here are the first three “Salt West” wines to boast of the “Radici per mezzo di the sea” logo presented by the producers yesterday per mezzo di Bologna:

Come back Grillo VignararaCome back Grillo Vignarara

Vignarara Sicilia Doc Estro 2024 – Francesco Intorcia Heritage: sunny, energetic, slender, rhythmic and tasty. Wine capable of combining strength and dynamism as few Sicilian whites know how to do. Not a mere exercise of style, for those who know the variety and these lands to perfection and want to enhance beauty and vocation from every angle, from every point of view, without ever subtracting from the challenges, indeed making it a corporate mantra.

Fina wine signature of timeFina wine signature of time

Signature of the time Sicily Doc Estro Deposito 2023 – Cantine Fina: elegant, large, persuasive, but not without vigore and incisive salinity. A weighted use of wood that demonstrates how much this territory, its interpreters and its princely translator, Estro, know how to balance each other, always finding balances capable of faithfully returning an identity that is independent of the style.

Sicily Doc Estro 2023 – Wind Fucina: a puro, polite, shaded, tense, multifaceted and saline wine. Of good dynamics and decisive sapid depth. An introspective, polite and never excessive interpretation, which seems to want to tell of a first step per mezzo di a land where everyone, even those who are “indigenous”, must feel guest per mezzo di order to be able to reserve the respect necessary for listening to the most intimate and profound. A sensitive and conscious approach, oriented to transmit to the interlocutor who will have the opportunity to taste one ora more of one of the 4170 bottles produced per mezzo di this vintage a form of dialogue between man, vineyard and sea of great sincerity and concreteness, without pindaric flights ora sucking suits.

These are not just wines. They are a signal, a recall of a territory that asks for attention, respect and care. Salt West is an act of return and revenge, because per mezzo di an tempo where it is increasingly difficult to create beauty and biodiversity, the time we dedicate to preserving them becomes fundamental.

The hope, from my part, is that what is one of the most popular Sicilian tourist destinations (and not only!) Become, thanks to projects such as Salt West, a fundamental stop for wine shops may be the first proponents of the imperatore -evaluation of a unique wine context of its kind.
