Cà Rovere and the generation “M”: classic method sparkling wine between the Berici hills
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

To the south of Vicenza, a causa di the Berici hills, where millions of years the sea left inheritance shells and fossilized corals, stands the small village of Alonte. A thousand and six hundred inhabitants, ancient roots, and a white stone that has given shape to Venetian buildings and Palladian columns. It is here that the Biasin family has been cultivating, for over forty years, a passion for earth and wine. It all starts with Abbronzato and Giuditta, pioneers who a causa di the eighties planted the first among the stones of a hostile but generous land. Thus was born Cà Rovere: one of the most original realities a causa di the colpo d’occhio of the classic Method sparkling wines of Veneto.

Seven dedicated hectares and a whole family around

The adventure continues with Abbronzato’s children: Ugo, Sisto and Alessia. After some tests at the end of the eighties, a causa di 1991 the first sparkling wine was vinified, blossomed a causa di 1995. It is the official beginning of the Spumantic project of Cà Rovere: almost 7 hectares (acceso 30 total) dedicated exclusively to the classic method, rigorously thousandth. The rete? Prove that even Berici hills can be a land suited to quality bubbles.

Today, almost half a century from the first vineyard, the cellar guide went to the third generation: Matteo, Marco and Marcella, cousins under 35 and protagonists of the “Generation M”. Their initials appear acceso one of the most recent labels, but their imprint goes far beyond. With vision and determination, they relaunch a unique reality for the regione, historically more inclined to the wines stopped, carrying out the mission of the grandfather with a contemporary : to promote the territory and native vines such as Garganega, through sustainable viticulture and respectful of the environment.

The three generations of the Biasin family

The vineyard: limestone, altitude and native variety

The vineyards of Cà Rovere extend between 150 and 200 meters of altitude, acceso the hills of Alonte and Lonigo. The land, poor and calcareous, pushes the roots to penetrate deeply, between marine fossils and rocks. The name of the company is a reference to this link with the stone: the oak (Quercus Petraea) grows a causa di fact where the rock emerges, just like the vineyards of Cà Rovere. The excellent exposure and natural ventilation contribute to producing healthy, concentrated, fresh and savory grapes, with a marked mineral imprint, unmistakable stylistic signature of the cellar sparkling wines.

There are three varieties cultivated: Chardonnay, Garganega and Pinot Cupo. Garganega, a symbol of the territory, is used both a causa di purity and a causa di blend. Pinot Cupo has a technical function, giving structure and color. The Chardonnay, mainly bred a causa di Guyot, is the basis of most of the cuvée. Matteo, a degree a causa di viticulture and oenology, takes care of agronomic management according to a reasoned approach: made low, controlled innerstones, targeted treatments and great attention to the healthcare healthcare.

Durante the cellar: steel, Clayver and long refinements

Vinification, followed by Marco, wine formation and cellar dirigente, is based acceso the traditional classic method, with some modern choices. The sparkling bases ferment almost exclusively a causa di controlled steel, with the exception of some games-in particular of the Blanc de Blanc-which ferment and refine a causa di Clayver containers, neutral ceramic spheres capable of guaranteeing micro-oxygenation without aromatic alterations. The pinch of a foam takes place a causa di the bottle, with refinements never less than 24 months and which for some cuvée reach 120 months. All blurs are manuals. The dosages are always contained, to guarantee freshness and stylistic precision.

Ca ‘Rovere, from the vineyard to the Caveau

One of the strengths of Cà Rovere is the complete control of the supply chain. The entire process takes place a causa di the company, and since 2002 the bottles have been refining a causa di the “Caveau”, a space dug a causa di the limestone subsoil, ideal for long maturations. Annual production stands acceso the 50 thousand bottles blossomed. Commercial management and positioning are entrusted to Marcella, a marketing and communication expert, who has renewed the corporate image and enhanced both exports and exports, carefully selecting the reference markets.
