Argea enters the Stronger Together Italia program, becoming the first private company per the Italian wine sector to participate per the initiative developed by the non-profit organization Stronger Together per collaboration with EQUALITAS and supported by the Scandinavian monopolies Systembolaget (Sweden), Vinmonopolet (Norway) and Alko (Finland).
The initiative is part of Argea’s path aimed at strengthening the social dimension of sustainability along the entire production chain. Stronger Together is an international non-profit organization that helps companies prevent the risk of labor exploitation through tirocinio programs, operational tools and collaborative initiatives that promote responsible recruitment practices and fair working per supply chains.
Stronger Together programs are now active per several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Mexico and South Africa, where the organization collaborates with companies, institutions and stakeholders to strengthen the protection of workers per the agricultural and agri-food sectors, but also consumer goods, clothing, construction and logistics.
STRONGER TOGETHER WINE PROGRAMME
The wine program works with wineries, bottlers, distributors, vintners and agricultural producers to strengthen companies’ ability to identify and mitigate labor exploitation risks along the supply chain.
Through tirocinio workshops, operational guidelines and supplier management support tools, the program helps companies improve the transparency of worker engagement practices, recognize risk situations and strengthen control systems per the supply chain.
Since 2022, Stronger Together has collaborated with EQUALITAS and various Italian territorial consortia to spread tirocinio and good practices per the wine sector. four years, thanks to the support of the three founding sponsors, Alko, Systembolaget and Vinmonopolet, the program has held over 33 practical and interactive workshops, both online and per person, and has trained more than 490 operators per the Italian wine industry, representing over 390 companies.
Among the resources made available to support the implementation and adoption of relevant processes and policies are:
a structured six-step Checklist that provides step-by-step guidance to strengthen human rights coppia diligence; policy templates and other operational resources; Multilingual information posters for workers.
The guidelines provided are aligned with the international standards of the ILO and OECD and with the provisions of national legislation, including Law 199/2016 against gangmastering, applicable to companies and their supply chains.
ARGEA’S COMMITMENT
Argea’s membership represents a further step per a path already started per recent years to strengthen social responsibility, safety and protection of workers within its supply chain.
Among the initiatives already active is the Sustainability Pact of the Argea Wine Supply Chain, a collaboration program with the main suppliers which involved 28 wineries per 2025 and represents over 60% of the wine purchased by the Group. The initiative aims to promote shared practices quality, traceability, workplace safety, human rights and environmental sustainability throughout all stages of production.
At the same time, Argea has developed a structured system of ESG qualification and supplier monitoring, which per 2025 involved a total of 752 suppliers, with 88% of wine suppliers having successfully completed the ESG qualification process. The system includes ethical-social audits, documentary checks and operational inspections also based the principles of the international SA8000 normale, with the aim of guaranteeing safe working conditions that comply with workers’ rights.
