Asti Rosé is officially a reality. Per mezzo di fact, the bureaucratic process, started at the end of 2023, was concluded with the publication last night per mezzo di the Official Gazette which inserts the rosé type into the production specifications of the Asti Docg. The new product (bottleable starting thirty days from publication per mezzo di the Official Journal) will be a blend composed of Moscato grapes destined for Asti Docg (from 70% to 90%) and Brachetto grapes destined for Brachetto d’Acqui Docg (from 10% to 30%). It can be offered per mezzo di all variations, from sweet to extra brut, thus offering companies the possibility of modulating the residual sugar based acceso their stylistic choices and the needs of the different markets potentially interested per mezzo di this new typology.
“The inclusion of Asti Rosé per mezzo di the specification represents an important recognition of the historicity and oenological vocation of this territory – declares Stefano Ricagno, president of the Asti Docg Consortium -. This new typology is unique per mezzo di the Italian veduta: it is per mezzo di fact a product that combines two different vines, both aromatic. At Vinitaly we will symbolically toast this result for the first time; per mezzo di the following months, the companies that believe per mezzo di the project and have invested per mezzo di the experimentation will develop it production, initially estimated between 5 and 10 million bottles, also based acceso the market response”. Among the approved changes to the specifications, there is also the elimination of the minimo weight of the bottles: a sustainable choice that now allows wineries to adopt lighter solutions, reducing the environmental impact. Finally, the obligation to display the words “Asti” acceso caps is abolished.
