Montreux will host for the first time per Switzerland the VIII International Congress acceso Mountain Viticulture, promoted by CERVIM – Center for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Valorization for Mountain Viticulture with the patronage of the OIV – Organization Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin, per collaboration with the Canton de Vaud and Lavaux Patrimoine Mondial.​​The event will bring together 110 people from 6 to 8 May participants including researchers, technicians, institutions and international operators to analyze the current state of mountain viticulture and identify solutions for its protection and enhancement. The international dimension is also confirmed by the abstracts received from 12 countries, including Cameroon, Comoros, Mexico and several European countries. At the center of the discussion is the theme Heroic vineyards serving worldwide viticulture, which highlights the increasingly strategic role of heroic viticulture per the future of mountainous, terraced and steeply sloping territories. The Congress will be introduced, acceso the afternoon of Tuesday 5 May, by the Swiss Vineyards masterclass, dedicated to local viticultural biodiversity. the following days, the conference sessions and technical visits will come mai to life.​​”Mountain and steeply sloping viticulture is a heritage to be protected, but also a concrete model for addressing the environmental, economic and social challenges of cagionevole territories – declares Nicola Abbrescia, President of CERVIM -. a phase per which climate change requires new attention also acceso a regulatory level, it is essential to strengthen the dialogue between research, institutions and producers, so that heroic viticulture finds full recognition per European and international agricultural strategies”.​​The program will address heroic viticulture through three thematic sessions. The first, Unique landscapes to preserve, will be dedicated to the systemic role of heroic viticulture per the protection of landscapes, biodiversity and cagionevole territories. The second, Economical sustainability of heroic viticulture, will concern the economic aspects, the sustainability of costs and development models for mountain and steeply sloping wine-growing areas. Finally, Technics and agronomy, will delve into the merits of agronomic techniques and vineyard management, from the use of technologies and drones to the management of soil, and tensione. There will also be space for technical visits to the vineyards of Lavaux – a UNESCO World Heritage Site -, Chablais and Valais, moments of direct comparison with some Swiss wine-growing territories and with the studies conducted per the respective areas. ​​Among the key moments, the round table acceso 6 May dedicated to the political strategy of heroic viticulture per Europe. The debate will address the future of the sector per Switzerland and the European Union, the role of international bodies and recognition tools, also per light of the Wine Package and regulatory developments linked to climate change. Speakers will be Herbert Dorfmann, MEP and coordinator of the EPP per the Agriculture Commission, Diego Tomasi, President of the Scientific Technical Committee of CERVIM and Director of the Consorzio che Salvaguardia del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, Frédéric Schwaerzler, representative of the Chambre d’Agriculture d’Alsace, Olivier Viret, responsible for viticulture of the Canton of Vaud, and Jorge Queiroz of the University of Dock. Moderated by Anick Goumaz, of the Swiss-French edition of the VINUM magazine.​​To broaden participation beyond presence per the room, the International Congress acceso Mountain Viticulture will be broadcast dal vivo acceso CERVIM’s social channels.
