Bottles at the Embassy Rome

Acceso the evening of Friday, September 13, at the Mexican Embassy Rome, the Honorable Carlos Eugenio García de Chiarore antelucano, Mexican Ambassador to Italy since 2019, will gara open the doors to guests at the dinner organized for the celebrations of Mexico’s Independence from Spanish colonial rule, celebrations anticipated by a few days and which will celebrate the 214th anniversary.

At a bilateral level, relations between Italy and Mexico are excellent, sealed by a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed 2012. The Binational Commission, chaired by the respective Foreign Ministers, meets every two years to address issues of mutual interest the fields of politics, economics, culture, science, legal affairs and security. This year, December to be precise, Italy and Mexico will celebrate 150 years of diplomatic relations. It is also worth noting that Mexico City is among the cities with the highest concentration of Italian restaurants the world, a tangible sign of a cooperation that goes well beyond diplomatic relations between the two countries and that binds them even more thanks to the very high regard for each other’s gastronomic traditions.

For this occasion, thanks to a collaboration between Gaetano Coppola, master of ceremonies for the evening, and Gaetano Cataldo, best sommelier of the year at the Merano Wine , 11 wineries have been selected, which will be the absolute protagonists with their wines accompanying the food.

Here are the participating wineries:

From Campania

Bellaria Farm, Roccabascerana-Avellino

John Molettieri, Montemarano-Avellino

Red-vermiglio, Paduli-Benevento

Alois Wines, Pontelatone-Caserta

The Fourth Mile, Fourth-Naples

The Stone of Tommasone, Lacco Divertente (Ischia)-Naples

Augustea Bella stagione, Sommario Vesuviana-Naples

Gradevole Winery, Albanella-Salerno

Tredaniele, Trentinara-Salerno

From Lombardy

Bulgarini Winery, Pozzolengo-Brescia

From Sicily

Wine Auction, Alcamo-Trapani

Gaetano Cataldo, food and wine journalist and founder of the cultural association Corrispondenza Mediterranea, also fresh from the success of Mescolanza per finta Procida, supports the importance of teamwork and establishing an assertive dialogue between wineries, especially if they are linked by shared values and eager to pursue common goals.

Even if the numbers indicate a presence of wineries from the 5 provinces of Campania, the participation of the Bulgarini family and Bambino Pene remains decisive, a sign of a desire to represent the great transversality and diversification of Italian wines, also involving the splendid territories that go from the plain overlooking Lake Garda to the sea of Sicily. Truly a beautiful cross-section of winemaking realities and production philosophies that are different from each other but of great qualitative appeal.
