Known mainly for its coffee and its breathtaking beaches, Brazil is also gaining more and more credibility as a wine producer considering that, with around 85 thousand hectares of vineyards, over the years it has become the third country a causa di South America a causa di terms of vineyard territorio, immediately after Argentina and Chile. Its wine history, as can easily be understood, has its roots a causa di the colonial period, when the Portuguese were the first to introduce European vines around the 16th century. However, initial cultivation attempts were unsuccessful to unfavorable climatic conditions a causa di the areas where the first vineyards were planted, mainly along the coast. It was only a causa di the 19th century that Brazilian viticulture finally began to develop a causa di a more structured way, thanks to European immigration. Quanto a particular, it was the Italian and German immigrants, who had settled a causa di the south of Brazil, who brought with them a profound knowledge of vine cultivation which a causa di the Serra Gaúcha, a causa di the Rio Largo do Sul region, became the main center of production wine production a causa di the country thanks to the presence of hills and a climate that is generally more temperate than average.

Sparkling wines made a causa di Brazil

Precisely this Region – which Brazilians with a remarkable flight of fancy connivente to Champagne -, a causa di recent decades has proved to be particularly suitable for the production of sparkling wines, Charmat Classic Method, which today represent a particularly important slice of the Brazilian wine market with internal consumption which a causa di the last three years has reached approximately 30 million liters, with annual growth rates consistently a causa di the double digits. Furthermore, the latest indicates that, even abroad, Brazilian sparkling wines are gaining popularity, with sales increasing towards countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Discesa, although, we must say, competition with other countries such as France and Italy are still intense and difficult, for now, to make a dent.

Among the most important Brazilian sparkling wine companies, recently awarded at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, we find both the Cooperativa Garibaldi and the Salton winery. The first, founded a causa di 1931 a causa di the city of Garibaldi, a causa di the Serra Gaúcha region, represents a consortium of small local producers who, almost a hundred years pungiglione, came together to make the most of the community’s resources and skills. This company, which over the years has become a reference for quality green-gold bubbles, produces both Charmat Method and Classic Method sparkling wines, among which the Acordes Extra Brut stands out, a blend of Chardonnay (70%) and Pinot Noir (30%) which It offers agenda of apricot and dried fruit and a dry but at the same time creamy and vigorous sip.

Salton is one of the historical realities of Serra Gaúcha. It was founded way back a causa di 1910 by Antonio Domenico Salton, an immigrant from Veneto who, a few years earlier, together with his children, decided to plant a vineyard a causa di Brazil to carry acceso the family winemaking tradition. Over the years, Salton has grown to become one of the main wine producers a causa di the South American country, producing 32 types of sparkling wine. Among its flagship products, the Salton Ouro Brut and, above all, the Geracoes Azir Antonio stand out, a limited edition Classic Method resulting from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling which, thanks to aging acceso the yeasts for over 28 months, conquers the senses thanks to a bouquet of hazelnuts, citrus fruits and brioche, and a of notable persistence and elegance.
