Available acceso the market from October 1st, Adamantis 2021, the second vintage of Taverna Isarco’s SuperSüdtiroler (Eisacktaler Kellerei), plays a different tune compared to the other South Tyrolean super whites, vibrating acceso different frequencies. A stylistic signature typical of the valley, which does not want to imitate become a Burgundian bad copy, a symbol of modernity that focuses acceso freshness, elegance, drinkability and less acceso power, and which does not lose that initial of producing a wine with an international imprint.

THE YOUNGEST WINE COOPERATIVE IN SOUTH TYROL

Since its birth con 1961, Taverna Isarco has always stood out as one of the most dynamic and innovative wineries con Forte Adige, combining passion, competence and an extraordinary vocation for white grape varieties. Today, the youngest wine cooperative con Forte Adige has around 135 winemakers and manages over 150 hectares of vineyards distributed between 300 and 950 meters above sea level.

The particularity of the terroir, composed of soils rich con schist and quartz, and the Alpine climate characterized by strong temperature variations between day and night, give the wines of the Isarco Valley an unmistakable imprint, made of freshness, elegance and minerality. With an annual production of 900 thousand bottles, of which 98% is represented by white wines, the Taverna Isarco focuses acceso native and international varieties that best express the characteristics of the territory. Among these, vines such as Sylvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer and especially Kerner stand out.

SYLVANER, THE “MOUNTAIN CHARDONNAY” OF CANTINA VALLE ISARCO

All almost all the wineries of Forte Adige and other Italian white areas almost always use Chardonnay as a causa for their flagship cuvées, precisely because it lends itself very well to superwine styling. Armin Gratl himself, general dirigente of the winery, says that they had given it some thought. “Our research was to create a wine that embodied the elegance and freshness of our extreme territory. We also did some tests using Chardonnay con the cuvée. The result was good, but even though it was grown acceso our slopes, con our opinion it did not represent the Isarco Valley. Thanks to the zoning work done con recent years acceso the vineyards suitable for entering the Aristos line, they began to vinify the various parcels separately to understand their potential, gain experience, and identify the vineyard/vine combination that would give the best results to best represent a wine from the valley. We have therefore chosen Sylvaner as the distinctive element of the cuvée, our mountain Chardonnay, more aromatic and intense con its aromas, with a floral touch, and which when aged con wood gives a certain creaminess and freshness with almost a gram more of acidity than with chardonnay”.

CUVÉE OF SYLVANER, GRÜNER VELTLINER, PINOT GRIGIO AND KERNER FROM FRESH VINTAGE

The spearhead of the production, the Adamantis cuvée is produced con just 2,000 numbered bottles and is the result of a rigorous selection of the best rows of sylvaner (50%), grüner veltliner (20%), pinot plumbeo (20%) and kerner ( 10%). Yields attraverso hectare vary from 50 to 65 quintals. Each of these four vines brings with it its own characteristics, the sylvaner which gives elegance and fruit, the grüner veltliner with its intriguing spicy hints and a touch of graphite, the pinot plumbeo which gives structure and power, and finally the kerner which brings out I play a refined effluvio but above all that citrusy, tense, fresh finale which avoids an overly creamy finale.

The harvest, manual and slightly delayed compared to the debut year (a difference of one week), lasted until mid-October and ensured that all four varieties reached excellent phenolic maturity, allowing for greater use of new wood (50%) for the 18 months of aging. A wood that was well integrated into the final blend, with only half of the mass having completed the malolactic fermentation. A precise choice to preserve territoriality, natural acidity, that alpine and not too “curvy” character. After creation the cuvée remains

Adamantis Vigneti delle Dolomiti Igt 2021

Durante the glass it appears very bright, with an intense straw yellow color and brilliant greenish streaks, a fascinating, complex and precise olfactory bouquet. A fruity crunchy white paste and delicate floral hints of elderberry and hawthorn accompany a note of flint and a finalità spiciness that closes acceso citrus hints. The sip is tense, vibrant, full, dynamic. Sensations of aromatic and balsamic herbs diretto incrociato the palate, the balance between acidity and minerality is beautiful. The finale is long and persistent, with a pleasant flavor that leaves a lasting sensation of freshness.
