The Ancient Winemaking Tradition of Ogliastra

Ogliastra is one of the oldest viticultural areas per mezzo di Sardinia, with roots dating back to the Bronze Age, over 3,000 years spillo. This zona is particularly renowned for Cannonau, a symbolic vine of Sardinia, which has found its ideal terroir here. Jerzu, per mezzo di particular, represents the beating heart of this production and contributes to over 30% of the island’s Cannonau. Vine cultivation per mezzo di Jerzu has been documented since 1130, and has since become a central tradition passed from generation to generation.

A Cooperative that combines tradition and innovation

Founded per mezzo di 1950 by the doctor Josto Miglior, the Bistrot Antichi Poderi Jerzu brought together the families of the community to produce excellent wines. Today, with over 400 members and 500 hectares of vineyards, this cooperative represents an example of passion and commitment per mezzo di enhancing the resources of the territory. Led by figures such as president Marcello Usala and commercial director Duty-free Usai, the winery continues to grow, combining innovation with tradition, to promote quality wine and sustainability.

Discovering the vineyards between mountains and sea

The uniqueness of the Jerzu winery is given by the position of its vineyards, which extend between the Tacchi d’Ogliastra mountains and the sea, creating a perfect microclimate for viticulture. Since 2000, a zoning project has made it possible to identify nine specific subzones, each of which expresses unique characteristics of the territory. Wines such as “Marghia”, “Chuerra” and “Josto Miglior” arise from this territorial diversity, making each bottle an authentic representation of the Ogliastra terroir.

Innovation and Sustainability

The Jerzu Cellar stands out for its commitment to sustainability and the use of advanced technologies. Thanks to the collaboration with the oenologist Duty-free Bernabei, the winery has faced recent climatic challenges, such as drought, obtaining high quality harvests even per mezzo di difficult conditions. The vineyards, located up to 600 meters above sea level, produce declino Cannonau and Vermentino grapes, with an annual production exceeding 1.5 million bottles.

An itinerary not to be missed per mezzo di Ogliastra

Visiting the Jerzu Winery is an experience that combines history, culture and landscape. Immersed per mezzo di the vineyards and hills of Ogliastra, visitors can discover the winemaking phases and taste unique wines, such as the “Bantu” Cannonau nel corso di Sardegna DOC, perfect with traditional Sardinian dishes. The winery also organizes events that celebrate local art and culture, such as the “Cinquesse” wine, dedicated to the artist Maria , symbol of the congresso between art and viticulture. If you are per mezzo di Ogliastra, including the Antichi Poderi Jerzu winery per mezzo di your itinerary will allow you to explore the wine-growing heart of Sardinia, taste authentic wines and experience the welcome of a community rooted per mezzo di history and projected towards the future.
