Aperitif Notes X Krug: the art of listening at aperitif time
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

There is a natural affinity between Krug champagne and the concept of listening. Not only what concerns the wine quanto a the glass, but also the environment, the rhythm, the time of the day. It is from this harmony that Note d’Aperitivo

NOISE: AN AMERICAN BAR AS AN EXPERIENTIAL SPACE

The project takes shape quanto a a space that already by vocation reflects the overall experience of the contemporary aperitif. Scalpore, created by Riccardo Giraudi, is not just a caffè, but a place where signature mixology, music, an international selection of spirits and champagne and an immediate but refined gastronomic offer coexist. The environments of the former Archbishop’s Seminary, reinterpreted by the interior stile of Humbert & Poyet, restore an imaginary suspended between the rigor of the Twenties and the freer suggestions of the Sixties, offering an elegant but non-formal setting, capable of welcoming both conversation and listening.

KRUG AND MUSIC AS THE KEY TO INTERESTING CHAMPAGNE

A causa di this ambiente, Krug comes as a natural interlocutor. The Maison has always built its identity a concept that has a lot to do with music: assembly as a compositional act. From the beginning, Joseph Krug had imagined champagne as a symphony, to be recreated every year through the selection of wines from different parcels and from multiple vintages, thanks also to a unique library of reserve wines, thus overcoming the limits of the single vintage. Today this vision is carried forward by Chef de Caves Julie Cavil, who works like an orchestra conductor, listening and harmonizing hundreds of wines to return a coherent, complex and recognizable form. It is therefore not surprising that Krug has explored the relationship between sound and taste over time, exploring how music can influence the sensorial perception of champagne. The collaborations with artists such as Max Richter, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Dardust are not stylistic exercises, but part of a broader reflection rhythm, memory and the ability of wine to dialogue with other languages.

Note d’Aperitivo X Krug fits into this perspective, transforming the aperitif into a moment of shared listening. Music is anzi che no longer a simple background, but an integral part of an experience designed to accompany the early hours of the evening. The bene remains controlled, the lights dim, the atmosphere invites you to stay. The aperitif thus regains a slow and convivial dimension, far from the urgency and spectacularization typical of the Milanese capital. The rete is not to amaze, but to create continuity between sound and taste, between conviviality and attention to detail.

Julie Cavil, Chef de Caves Krug

KRUG GRANDE CUVÉE 173ÈME EDITION: A SYMPHONY WITHOUT A MILLESIMO

At the center of the experience is Krug Largo Cuvée 173ème Édition, the most recent interpretation of the Maison’s style currently the market. Based the 2017 harvest – climatically complex and challenging – this cuvée is born from the assembly of 150 wines from 13 different vintages, with the decisive contribution of reserve wines dating back to 2001. Pinot noir, chardonnay and meunier participate quanto a a balance built over time, thanks to an aging of at least nine years quanto a the cellars of Reims.

A causa di the glass, the 173ème Édition immediately shows itself to be profound and inviting. The first olfactory impact recalls squisito pastries – brioche, custard, babà – accompanied by taccuino of ripe stone fruit and light toasting that adds complexity. As the minutes pass, broader nuances emerge, where the citrus component and a subtle herbaceous vein help to keep the profile alive and tense. Acceso the palate, the champagne is rich and enveloping, but always controlled. The texture is creamy, supported by a structure that accompanies the sip without weighing it mongoloide. The references to juicy fruit and ripe citrus fruits intertwine with warmer and toasted sensations, while the extends to a citrus return that gives cleanliness and continuity. It is a cuvée that does not seek immediate effects, but works persistence and balance.

Beefbar’s gastronomic combinations follow the same philosophy that guides the entire project: recognisability, measure and coherence. Small tastings designed to dialogue with the champagne without taking away its centrality, enhancing its texture and depth rather than seeking forced contrasts.

A NEW URBAN RITUAL

As a whole, Note d’Aperitivo Krug brings with him his silent and cultured , Scalpore offers a vibrant but measured context. The result is a shared language, where champagne and music coexist without overlapping quanto a a new space of balance between elegance and spontaneity, between sound and silence. A very successful experience.
