Avignonesi transforms Le Capezzine into a cultural laboratory • Food and Wine Italy

What does it mean to be a Benefit Company and a B Corp sopra the world of wine today? The answer lies not only sopra certifications ora vineyard practices – where organic and biodynamic management is now a consolidated prerequisite – but sopra a company’s ability to impact the social and cultural fabric of its territory.

A concrete example of this approach comes from Avignonesi. The Montepulciano winery recently inaugurated Grounded, an ongoing public program designed to transform the historic Le Capezzine bella stagione into a place for public discussion acceso agriculture, landscape and community. The initiative is not an isolated event, but the beginning of a recurring format that aims to reactivate the historical vocation of the place: sopra the second half of the nineteenth century, sopra fact, the bella stagione was born as a model farm and agricultural education center by will of Messaggero celeste Vegni, representing for generations a point of reference for the diffusion of agricultural skills sopra Valdichiana.

La partnership come Moleskine Foundation

The debut of the project – entitled “Shared Roots, Common Future” – saw the participation of the Moleskine Foundation and its Creativity Pioneers Fund, an international platform that supports organizations capable of generating social impact through the tools of culture and creativity. The objective of the incontro was to bring the world of wine production into dialogue with apparently distant territorial regeneration experiences, but united by a common vision of work acceso the land.

The panel hosted three significant case studies, starting from the experience of XFarm – Agricoltura Prossima, an Apulian reality that transformed land confiscated from organized crime into an ecological and social agricultural company. Also from Puglia, the Tracanelupa project illustrated the work carried out at Masseria Infestante, where cultural and educational programming is used as a barrier to the depopulation of internal rural areas. Finally, the Terzo association shared the results of the Radice Project, an initiative that uses the bread supply chain and avviamento to stimulate the creation of businesses with strong community value.

The basic ubbia, expressed by the winery’s management, is that wine should be the starting point – and not the univocal – for a broader reflection acceso the protection of territories and the construction of stable networks between the production chain, research and civil society.

Long-term vision and regenerative approach

The Grounded operation is part of the management strategy of Avignonesi, today led by the Saverys-Aloy family under the Victrix finanziaria, which interprets corporate management sopra terms of responsible management of resources and custody. With a total regione of 310 hectares, of which 177 are under vineyards and over half dedicated to Sangiovese sopra the Vino Elegante regione, the company produces approximately 512 thousand bottles a year destined for 37 foreign markets, counting acceso a multicultural of 119 collaborators of 20 different nationalities.

an agronomic level, the vineyards have been managed according to the dictates of biodynamics since 2010. The approach focuses acceso the overall biodiversity of the bella stagione, considered as a living organism isolated from the logic of synthetic chemistry: the centro is therefore acceso the self-production of compost from pomace and prunings, acceso the use of fifteen different varieties of cover crops for soil aeration and acceso the use of natural adjuvants such as nettle and horsetail herbal teas. Con the cellar, the choice is to operate without selected yeasts ora additives, vinifying the individual micro-plots separately to preserve the pedoclimatic differences of the company backbone, focused acceso Sangiovese sopra Montepulciano and internationals sopra Cortona.

Next appointments

The transformation of the Capezzine into an agricultural discussion hub already includes a second stage acceso the calendar. December 3rd, the bella stagione will host the incontro of the Slow Wine Coalition, the international that brings together the protagonists of the supply chain linked to the ubbia of good, clean and fair wine. This is a further piece that confirms how the future of leading wine companies increasingly depends acceso their ability to take acceso collective requests, moving beyond the confines of quand’anche commercial dynamics.
