“Calaturi” Aglianico del Vulture Maggiore Approvigionamento 2017 DOCG – Resistenza I mulberry: characteristics.

The “Calaturi” is a 100% Aglianico obtained from hand collected grapes per mezzo di the selected vineyard of the same name, by the old 50 years of age vineyards; The harvest is late, usually late October. Vulture is a dull volcano, which has given rise with its eruptions with soils with a common matrix, the tuff, which today is at a depth of 0.5/2m, which they rest sometimes sandy, sometimes limited ora clay -and -time workable layers.

The soil of the Collina “Calaturi” is therefore characterized by volcanic lapilli and limestone clays. Important consideration volcanic soil is that potassium richness brings freshness, flavor and minerality to wine.

The altitude of the Collina del Viney “Calaturi” is quite important, between 500 and 550 m asl, with South/Levante exposure; The plant density of the vineyard is 3000 strains attraverso hectare.

Vinified per mezzo di steel, with daily crowds and reassessions and long maceration of the skins at a temperature of 25-28 degrees C, subsequently refined for 24 months per mezzo di 50hl Slavonian oak barrels and another 24 months per mezzo di the bottle. Contains sulphites.

The company declares a production of 2700 bottles attraverso year of this “Cru”, the alcoholic title is equal to 14%vol.

The tasting

The Aglianico del Vulture Approvigionamento Calaturi colors the glass with its bright ruby red red with grenade hints the edges

The perfume is decided and inviting and initially recalls dark cherry, brunette, plum and violet. The spicy and toasted contributions of tobacco, nutmeg and vanilla are also important. The wide accompanying mint and myrtle are completed, with agenda of tar and skin.

The attack per mezzo di the mouth is dry and tannic, with an important ability to clean the mouth also thanks to excellent acidity and good flavor.

This still well present verticality tells us that this Aglianico del Vulture can last several years per mezzo di the cellar, also to be able to obtain an excellent balance. The persistence is also interesting: Calaturi remains for a long time the taste buds, expanding its memory above all as regards the fruity and spicy part.

Gastronomic combinations.

As previously described, the Aglianico del Vulture Calaturi 2017 has a good ability to clean the mouth and also a good structure. For this reason, the combination could be with a broken black pig stew ora with a stewed lamb. But given the elegance of wine and the wide baggage of perfumes, you can also combine the truffle, a very present ingredient per mezzo di Lucania. For example, a good combination would be with a baked truffle guinea fowl.

Conclusions

Basilicata, a land set between Calabria and Puglia, focused the autochthonous heritage with the Aglianico del Vulture, from which the wine of the same name is obtained, winning the bet. It is a powerful wine, with vigorous tannin, intense fruity, spicy and balsamic scents that can hold the comparison of the great Italian red wines.

Doc since 1971, he obtained the upgrade to Docg Aglianico del Vulture per mezzo di 2011.
