With the arrival of the Christmas holidays, Merlot Vistorta confirms itself as the ideal wine to accompany the most authentic moments of tradition: a wine created to bring together, to tell a family story that has flowed between the vines for generations and which, every year, is renewed the glass.
Born from the experience of the Brandolini d’Adda family and symbol of the company since 1989, this Merlot embodies elegance, depth and character.
The vineyards from which Merlot Vistorta is born have an average age of 25 years, with some historic rows dating back to 1918 the Ridiel vineyard. The wine was initially created as a blend with small percentages of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet and Shiraz but 2000, with the full maturity of the vineyard, quand’anche vinification was chosen to maximize its expression. Experimentation has always been at home Vistorta and has been passionately followed for several years by the winemaker Alec Ongaro, who has supported Brandino Brandolini d’Adda the cellar since 1994.
The vineyard dedicated to Vistorta Merlot is today still divided into small parcels which are distinguished by clones, age and cultivation systems. Winemaking traditionally takes place separately by plot, concrete tanks with spontaneous fermentations, followed by 30 days of post-fermentative maceration. The wine then ages for 18 months French oak barriques, 40% of which are new, thus obtaining a perfect balance between structure and finesse.
Since 2013, some naturally vinified lots have entered the blend, increasing quantities year after year, and the wine is bottled without filtration to preserve its integrity and personality. With its enveloping, intense but harmonious profile, Vistorta Merlot is the ideal companion for holiday dishes: from roasts to preparations, up to the most important cheeses.
