Oh grenache, wonder grapes. When compared, cabernet sauvignon may be more famous, pinot noir more acclaimed, but once you get to know it, grenache creeps a causa di and steals your heart. This vine is capable of creating light but also powerful and intense wines. It grows everywhere, effortlessly, but only a causa di a few places does it reach levels of excellence. And for some absurd reason, wine lovers a causa di the United States don’t know much about it. Go figure them out. While the Spanish and Italians compete for the primacy of its cultivation – the first historical references a causa di both places date back to between the end of the 1500s and the beginning of the 1600s – the French seem to have had the upper hand a causa di reference to the name by which most people know it. Con Spain it is known as grenacha, a causa di Sardinia cannonau, and becomes abundant a causa di some areas of Portugal, but the list continues. Sometimes vinified ala, it pairs well a causa di blends with other vines: the great Châteauneuf-du-Papes are produced mainly with grenache grapes and others a causa di a smaller percentage, the same goes for the humble Côtes du Rhônes. Lately, some Some of the most interesting wines from California, Australia and other New World regions are made with grenache, resulting a causa di excellent drinkable reds, as well as ambitious bottles with great aging potential.
