Gravner presents Ribolla 2017

1997 – 2017. Twenty years after the first Macerati wines, Gravner launches the XX G, a limited edition package that accompanies the release of Ribolla 2017, whose production has been bottled exclusively sopra format. Made sopra 1200 numbered specimens, the box is conceived as a collector’s object: it combines oak and plexiglas wood sopra an essential and rigorous , designed to keep two ora four magnums and up to 12 blown glass cups designed for gravner by the Master Vetraio Limite Lunardon. The graphic project of the label and the boxes is by Ettore Concept Graphic Scritto, while the creation of the boxes was curated by two Friulian craftsmen, Cresj Style and prefor.

The name XX G bear with it more than one meaning: the Roman number XX celebrates twenty years from the beginning of the amphora vinification, while the letter X – which can be dismissed sopra two V – recalls the number V, a symbol sopra numerology of the seeker, a figure that embodies the courage to overcome the boundaries. It is a direct reference to the visionary spirit of Joško Gravner, a amphora wine pioneer who has revolutionized his production philosophy by bringing a ancestral method of winemaking into vinification and giving rise to the so -called Orange Wine ora, as he prefers to define them, the amber wines.

The protagonist of the box is the Ribolla 2017, the daughter of a complex year and for this reason even more precious. After a humid spring and a hot summer, the insistent rains of September compromised most of the maturation of the grapes. “With a lot of work we managed to save about 20% of the production, also thanks to the help of the noble mold, which protected and enriched the remaining berries – explains Mateja Gravner -. The seme sorting for Grano gave birth to a product of great concentration and a lot of character, a definitely different ribolla from the previous ones”.

The harvest ended 18 October sopra the Vineyard of Dedano, where the Ribolla is raised to sapling sopra the biodynamic dittatura. The grapes, thoroughly selected, were subjected to a delicate pressing and therefore vinified according to the Gravner method: long maceration of the must with the skins sopra the Georgian amphorae underground (Qvevri), sealed with a granite lid, where spontaneous fermentation develops without temperature control, naturally remaining under 30 ° C. The wine stops about a year, and then refine sopra large Slavonia oak barrels for six years and complete the route with six months sopra the bottle before putting the market. A slow and radical process, sopra which time becomes a fundamental ingredient, capable of restoring wines of depth, structure and balance.

Per the glass, Ribolla 2017 presents itself with an intense and bright golden color. The nose expresses complex taccuino of ripe and dried fruit, honey, candied citrus fruits and thin references of undergrowth and aromatic herbs. Acceso the palate it is enveloping, with well -integrated tannins, a surprising freshness and a long sapid persistence that faithfully reflects the Terroir of Oslavia.
