Italian bubbles are preparing to exceed the number of 1 billion bottles produced and marketed con 2024; of these, 355 million (+7%) will be uncorked between Christmas and New Year con Italy and around the world. A , quaderno the Uiv-Ismea Wine Observatory con its usual end-of-year report, which demonstrates the strength of a typology refractory to economic crises, conflicts and now structural difficulties con the sector.

Quanto a detail, according to the analysis by the Italian Wine Union and the Institute for Agricultural Food Market Services through the cross-referencing of official sources, between Christmas and New Year the consumption of Italian sparkling wines will be concentrated mainly abroad with 251 million bottles uncorked ( +9% acceso 2023) and 104 million con Italy (+2%). The champagne market, acceso the other hand, is con a significant decline, closing at -8% (5.1 million).

The 2024 final balance (1.015 billion bottles, +8%) highlights the strong countertrend of the sparkling wine type not only compared to still wines but also to the consumption of other alcoholic beverages – from beer to spirits – with the exception of the cocktail-party segment, which actually represents an increasingly strategic growth lever also for made con Italy bubbles. The “Spritz trend”, accelerating con all key demand areas starting from the USA, has translated into 2.8 billion cocktails based acceso Italian sparkling wine (con particular Prosecco and other Charmats), according to the Observatory’s estimates, for a total of approximately 340 million bottles dedicated to the mescolanza. A determining factor for this year’s exports, which is looming con an estimated growth, acceso the portata side, of 9%, thanks con particular to yet another of Prosecco, with the DOC and Asolo, and the double growth figure of the other “Charmat method”.

According to the Uiv-Ismea wine observatory, the market is dominated by sparkling wines with a controlled designation of origin (Doc) and guaranteed designation of origin (Docg), which represent around 80% of bottled wine. And if until 20 years indicatore the Po line was almost never crossed, today sparkling wine is made throughout Italy, with 70 denominations of controlled origin and 17 of guaranteed controlled origin.
