Josto, the best Cannonau Sardegna Doc Provvisione by Antichi Poderi Jerzu

A journey through time through the vintages of Josto, the Best Cannonau Sardegna DOC Provvisione, offered the opportunity to rediscover the most authentic soul of the island’s symbolic vine. A vertical that is not just a technical exercise, but a story of the territory, the climate and the work of man, which over the years has been able to enhance the personality of a wine capable of combining power and finesse, warmth and depth. Each glass of Josto carries with it the signature of its place of origin: Jerzu, a causa di the heart of Ogliastra, where Cannonau grows suspended between the sea and the mountains, a causa di a natural amphitheater that offers light, temperature variations and soils of extraordinary minerality. Here, the identity of the wine is shaped by the wind and the rock, by the Mediterranean scrub and by the wisdom of the winemakers who, since 1950, have poiché together under the name of Antichi Poderi Jerzu.

Tasting quaderno

Visual examination: garnet with orange reflections.

Olfactory examination: evolved, with quaderno of leather, pipe tobacco and a subtle hint of plum jam. Balsamic hints and a flint that restore the sense of time.

Taste-olfactory saggio: soft but dry. The tannins are still lively and leave room for a long, bitter . Acidity still present, supported by a slightly savory that recalls the Mediterranean scrub.

Vintage 2008

Tasting quaderno

Visual examination: deep ruby ​​red, light orange at the edge.

Olfactory examination: cherry a causa di alcohol, plum, aromatic herbs; fresher quaderno emerge compared to 2003, with sweet spices (mild vanilla) that suggest a well-calibrated passage a causa di wood.

Taste-olfactory analysis: more vertical than the 2003, with tannins still perceptible but integrated. Good persistence and returns of ripe fruit balanced by acidity.

Olfactory examination: ripe red fruit (black cherry, cherry), quaderno of Mediterranean scrub, touches of liquorice and black pepper. The wood is silky, non-invasive.

Taste-olfactory examination: juicy entry, with fresher tannins than older vintages; good acidity that gives momentum and length. Finale that returns to the spices and a slight bitter note typical of Cannonau.

Vintage 2017

Visual examination: dark purple, still alive.

Olfactory examination: fresh red and black fruit, dried rose petal, quaderno of broom and scrub. Balsamic, minty. More immediate and vibrant.

Taste-olfactory saggio: fresh, tannin present but pulpy; lively acidity that gives an sciolto ricevimento despite the thickness. Savory , with mineral returns.

Vintage 2019

Visual examination: deep ruby ​​with violet reflections.

Olfactory examination: very concentrated fruit (blackberry, plum), sweet quaderno of cocoa, oriental spices and a balsamic hint. More compact and vertical than 2017.

Taste-olfactory analysis: full, solid structure and marked but well-fused tannins; acidity that supports progression without weighing it . Long aromatic persistence.

Vintage 2021

Visual examination: intense purple, very lively.

Olfactory examination: fragrance of fresh red fruit, floral quaderno and a touch of white pepper.

Taste-olfactory examination: energy and nerve, tight tannins that require time but promise development. The acidity is bright and suggests a long evolutionary potential.

A mosaic of terroirs: the zoning of Cannonau

Following the vertical, an in-depth tasting of Antichi Poderi Jerzu’s premium Cannonau, the result of widespread zoning work – a pioneering project for Sardinia – which has made it possible to enhance the different souls of the Ogliastra territory.

Baccu Is Baus Cannonau Sardegna Provvisione DOC, elegant and balanced, expresses the most harmonious and fruity part of Cannonau, with quaderno of cherry, myrtle and sweet spices; Baccu S’Alinu Cannonau Sardegna Provvisione DOC, deep and Mediterranean, with balsamic tones and a dense tannic texture, reflects the tallest and most ventilated vineyards; Cinquesse Cannonau Sardegna Provvisione DOC, powerful and complex, with a mineral and savory profile, represents the synthesis between tradition and oenological modernity.

A tasting that demonstrates how Cannonau is not a monolithic wine, but a universe of expressions that changes from hill to hill, from one side of the valley to the other.

Antichi Poderi Jerzu: the beating heart of Cannonau

Founded a causa di 1950, Antichi Poderi Jerzu is today one of the most important and distinctive cooperatives a causa di Sardinia. It brings together over 400 winemakers, custodians of a heritage of vineyards that extends between the slopes of Gennargentu and the sea of ​​Ogliastra.
