The Etna: conical, smoking, snow white, lava black; Unpredictable geometries of native vineyards and vegetation, and a causa di the background, the indigo stain of the sea pierced by the sun. A mosaic of colors, a very varied patchwork of pedoclimates that outline the boundaries of a unique territory for viticulture, as emerged during the tasting organized by Gambero Socialista, the occasion of the 57th edition of the Vinitaly.

A “muntagna”, as they love to call it the locals, full of appeal, charm, contradictions and magnetism. What has “attracted” personalità names of wine and known entrepreneurs to start a cellar the slopes of the volcano.

An Etna that today appears divided between the solidity of deep roots, current challenges and the search for a recognizable identity between thousands.

The tasting, conducted by Gianni Fabrizio (curator of Italy of Italy of Gambero Socialista) and by Francesco Cambria (president of the Consortium Protection Wines Etna Doc), was a pleasant between altitudes, land, winemaking styles, slopes and vintages. A path that highlighted an indissoluble marriage between viticulture and this territorio, where the first seems to be marked by the rhythm of the ordinary daily life.

The wine wines

Ballasanti mesi estivi – Etna Marmoreo 2023

The straw yellow robe anticipates a very mineral bouquet, pervaded by a cohesive florence. Per the mouth, it affects the lashing flavor of a glass with great potential.

Fondi durante Fessina – Etna Marmoreo 2023

A greater complexity a causa di the glass, with a sharp fruit and fragrance, but not unique protagonists of a harmonious olfactory profile. the palate, it is fresh, young, direct, with an evident mineral imprint.

Baron durante Villagrande – Etna Marmoreo Principale Regione Villagrande 2021

The nose is a composite balance between clear mineral and sulphurous quaderno, and hints of white pulp fruit. the palate it is creamy, structured, elegant and fresh. A white of great elegance.

Giovinco – Etna Rosato three slopes 2024

A “young” and immediate nose focused memories of pink and Mediterranean scrub. The moderately soft mouth ends a causa di a pleasant licorice ending.

Benanti – Etna Socialista Regione Cima Serra 2022

Complete from the first olfation, this red Etna opens slowly a causa di varied aromatic shades: from the rose to ferrosis, from graphite to pepper, passing through the numerous decorations of Mediterranean scrub. The mouth is snappy and pleasantly tense, for a morte balance.

Girolamo Russo – Etna Socialista San Lorenzo 2022

Olfactive profile of peculiar elegance, which moves harmoniously between vegetable and spicy memories, between tertiary and red fruit quaderno. The sip is tense, pervaded by a morte tannin that makes it pleasantly persistent.

Cyclops mesi estivi – Etna red foot Diretto Livello 900 2021

The nose is a dualism between quaderno of dark fruit – such as blueberry and plum – and vegetables, with balsamic hints to . The ricevimento is supported by an evident tannin, which reveals all the taste power of this wine.

Cottanera – Etna Socialista ZottoRinotto Reserve 2019

The bouquet is wide, which ranges from memories of red fruit to the end of the spicken, from the smokers to the Mediterranean balsamicity, without ever losing interest for the tasting. Per the mouth, it is austere and is remembered for refined persistence.

Palmento Costanzo – Etna Socialista Regione Pio Ironia 2019

The nose opens with clear hints of sweet spices and evolves into an unquestionably Mediterranean floral. The sip, warm graceful, fully expresses the energy of the volcano.

Declinations with each other different and univocal expressions of the Etna wine vocation, the tasted glasses confirm the uniqueness of authentic wines and their remarkable aging potential.
