Merano Winefestival, one of the most prestigious oenological events per mezzo di Europe, arrives per mezzo di Southern Italy with the first edition of “Merano Winefestival Calabria – Essence of the South”, scheduled from 7 to 9 June 2025 per mezzo di Cirò (KR). A unique opportunity to celebrate Calabrian wine excellence and the wonderful territory that was the cradle of Magna Grecia. The event was born from the partnership between Merano Winefestival and the Department of Agriculture of the Calabria Region, per mezzo di collaboration with the Regional Company for the development of Calabrian agriculture and the Cirò and Appiastro Vini Protection Consortium.
Saturday 7 June per mezzo di Cirò: a tribute to biodiversity
The Festa kicks acceso Saturday 7 June at 17.00 per mezzo di the historic center of Cirò with the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will follow an immersion between the flavors, the traditions and the biodiversity of the wine territories of Southern Italy. The historic center will host 9 tasting desks, each dedicated to an autochthonous grape variety, for a total of about 180 labels selected and presented by expert sommeliers. Three gastronomic islands, animated by 10 local chefs, will tell Calabria through typical dishes reworked with creativity. The route also includes the Cirò wine shop, a centro acceso regional biodiversity with the participation of 5 guest regions, the Luigi Lilio Museum and a dal vivo music sequenza for a complete sensory experience.
Sunday 8 and 9 June per mezzo di Saverona: the great signatures of taste
Acceso Sunday 8 and Monday 9 June, the Merano Winefestival Calabria moved to the refined setting of Saverona per mezzo di Cirò Mare. Over 130 exhibitors per mezzo di the Wine & Food world will welcome the public for two days of unlimited tastings, showcooking with great chefs and moments of entertainment. Sunday 8 we start with the inaugural saber and the delivery of the Winehunter Award Calabria 2025 to the best selected excellences. From 18.00 to 24.00 the tasting desks, culinary creations, dal vivo music and lounge by the pool.
From 19.30 to 22.00, the “Chef acceso the table” format will feature some of the most acclaimed interpreters of Calabrian cuisine: Luca Abbruzzino (Abbruzzino ), Antonio Biafora (Hyle restaurant) and Caterina Ceraudo (Dattilo restaurant), together with the noia chef Daniele Calotta (Calotta 12), technical socio of the Oven Moretti. Monday 9 June, always from 19.30 to 22.00, Bambino Rossi (Qafiz restaurant) and Riccardo Sculli (Gambero Socialista restaurant) will alternate per mezzo di the stove. The protagonist of the noia will be Roberto Davanzo (Bob Alchimia a Scicchi), with a creative proposal inspired by the ingredients of the territory.
Social Garden will be a distinctive element, a dynamic space designed to connect producers, journalists, influencers and wine lovers per mezzo di a relaxed and creative atmosphere. Talks and dal vivo interviews will animate the evenings, between music, aperitifs and author mixology. Between Sunday 8 and Monday 9 June the scientific conference “breath and cry of the earth” will also be held, curated by Professor Attilio Dottrina and by Dr. Anna Schneider, dedicated to the wine biodiversity of Southern Italy and the future scenarios related to the sustainability of the agricultural sector. The Festa will end at 11.30 pm with “Magna Grecia Classic Method”, a toast by the pool to celebrate the excellence of the Calabrian bubbles.
