Murgo inaugurates Jazz in Vigna with the largest bottle ever made in Sicily

A debut that combines oenological excellence and great jazz music: the presentation of the first bottle of Classic Method sparkling wine per mezzo di Jeroboam format made per mezzo di Sicily by Murgo will gara open the seventh edition of Jazz per mezzo di Vigneto June 28th. The Barone Emanuele Pas Dosé 2016 sparkling wine will gara open – symbolically – the summer manifestazione which every year transforms Capienza San Michele, the slopes of Etna, into one of the most evocative stages of the Sicilian cultural and sommario.

This is the largest format ever produced per mezzo di Sicily through direct refermentation per mezzo di the bottle and the label could only be that of the most “anticipated” sparkling wine from the Etna company: Classic Method from Nerello Mascalese grapes, it expresses the most authentic identity of the eastern side of Etna, without sugar dosage, to restore maximum territorial purity, aromatic precision and mineral tension per mezzo di the glass. The 2016 vintage Jeroboam version represents an unprecedented experimentation for Sicilian sparkling wines.

The Jeroboam – equivalent to four normale bottles – was per mezzo di fact obtained through direct refermentation per mezzo di the bottle, and not by decanting, a complex and rarely used technique which allows for a superior qualitative evolution of the wine over time: “Large formats have always represented an extraordinary opportunity for refinement – says Michele Scammacca del Murgo, oenologist and owner of the cellar together with his family – The ratio between the portata of the wine and the surface of the cork reduces the entry of oxygen, favoring a slower and more harmonious. Quanto a our case it is a 2016 vintage Classic Method, aged the yeasts for around eight years, produced per mezzo di extremely limited quantities: just around seventy examples”. An experimental and artisanal project, made even more complex by the technical difficulties linked to the disgorgement of large formats, but destined to mark a new stage per mezzo di the history of Sicilian and Etna sparkling wine.

To seal – ideally – this moment will be the inaugural concert by Paolo Fresu, one of the most authoritative trumpeters the international jazz scene, who will take the stage together with Dino Rubino, Marco Bardoscia and Stefano Bagnoli, per mezzo di a refined homage to the universe of Miles Davis. Now per mezzo di its seventh edition, Jazz per mezzo di Vigneto – created together with the Monk Jazz Società – confirms itself among the most anticipated cultural events of the Sicilian summer. Quanto a previous editions it recorded over 4,000 total attendances and numerous sold outs, hosting artists such as Francesco Cafiso, Alfio and Paolo Fresu himself.

Produced per mezzo di extremely limited quantities – just a few dozen examples – the Jeroboam su Barone Emanuele Pas Dosé 2016 mark a new stage per mezzo di the path of research and innovation that Murgo has been carrying out for almost forty years per mezzo di the valorisation of the Etna Classical Method.
