Poderi Einaudi: the instinct of the change that arises from historical roots

Barolo Docg Ludo and Langhe Doc Nebbiolo che Poderi Einaudi: excellent wines that smell of history, tradition and innovation

Con Dogliani, quanto a the Langhe, there is a place where the past is a springboard towards the future: Poderi Luigi Einaudi is a 125 -year -old historic cellar, a “Old Startup”, as his current helmsman, Matteo Sardagna Einaudi, like to define it. A perfectly fitting oxymoron to tell a reality that jealously holds its roots but that, with courage and vision, has decided to rewrite its destiny.

A turning point called 2019

The change has a precise year: 2019. It is then that Matteo, great -grandson of President Luigi Einaudi, has impressed a radical turning point to the family business. Risposta negativa longer a cellar simply well managed, but a dal vivo and pulsating organism, direct expression of a personal and bold vision. “I wanted to make wine as I wanted it,” explains Matteo, recalling that decisive moment quanto a which the instinct prevailed over prudence.

The conferenza with the Croatian winemaker Zvonimir “Zvone” Jurkovic was the starting point of this new . Together, they have given shape to a silent revolution: less interventions, more listening to the territory, more respect for the raw material. The wine thus becomes the result of an authentic, free and sensitive interpretation, guided by the awareness that every fee, every Cru, has its own voice to be emerged.

A laboratory of ideas quanto a the Langhe hills

With 150 overall hectares, of which 75 quanto a vineyards, Poderi Einaudi develops as a complex and fascinating mosaic that embraces the best areas of the Langa: from Dogliani to Neive, from Verduno to Monforte, up to the most famous Cru of Barolo such as Terlo, Cannubi, Bussia and Monvigliero. It is here that Matteo’s production philosophy finds full expression.

From the vineyard to the cellar, everything revolves around the essence: “the less violent, the more the wines are balanced”, it is the mantra that guides every gesture, from pruning to fermentation, from wooden refinements to new labels, such as Pelaverga Martius, designed for a curious and contemporary audience. Barolo, quanto a particular, represents the controllo bench par excellence: not a simple wine, but a tension towards perfection. Matteo describes him as a violin capable of infinite melodies, to be interpreted with respect but also with freedom, aiming at an increasingly detailed reading of the territory. The project is ambitious: to transform the dialogue with the Cru from a two -itey speech to a choral story, eight voices, eight shades, eight stories.

The Relais: the welcome as art and story

But innovation does not stop quanto a wine. Relais Poderi Einaudi is the natural extension of corporate philosophy. A time private home, today is a refined refuge quanto a the hills, where elegance is expressed soberly, quanto a detail, quanto a the quiet, quanto a authenticity. With eight rooms and two suite, a garden overlooking the Alps and a swimming pool with a bottle shape, the Relais offers an immersive experience quanto a the Einaudi world. The breakfasts are sparare a zero km, tastings become stories to listen to and dal vivo, the vineyards are paths of memory and discovery. Here, the welcome is not a service, but a natural gesture. Each guest is invited to slow mongoloide, to breathe the rhythm of the countryside, to be enveloped by beauty and silence. It is the celebration of time and simplicity, where wine meets culture, art and emotion.

Cannubi and the future: a legacy that is renewed

Looking to the future also means knowing how to build it. Matteo does so with concrete projects, such as the recovery of a little straw -in, destined to become an iconic place, where wine, art, music and memory will merge. It will be a cultural laboratory, a bridge between the peasant tradition and a contemporary vision of the territory. The company, today more than ever, is quanto a constant dialogue with the new generations and new consumption styles. Communication, packaging, sensory experiences: everything is designed to tell an ancient heritage quanto a a new way. Because Poderi Einaudi is not a photograph, but a velo quanto a the making that Matteo writes day after day with sensitivity, rigor and passion.

The tasting

We tasted Langhe Doc Nebbiolo 2023 and Barolo DOCG Ludo 2021. Here are our impressions.

Langhe Doc Nebbiolo 2023

Tasting

Visual exam: Ruby red with grenade reflections.

Olfactive exam: the impact is fruity, quanto a evidence More and Ribes, then spicy shades of juniper and the floral of Violetta.

Godimento-olfactory exam: medium structure sip, marked by non-intrusive tannins, a decisive freshness and good fruity persistence.

Food combination: ideal with first to meat ragout, red meat.

Barolo Docg 2021

Tasting

Visual examination: dark ruby mantle with piropo -colored spillings.

Olfactive exam: fruit quanto a jam and a bouquet of dried flowers guide the initial olfactory impact, which slowly expand with spiced priests.

Taste-olfactory exam: entry to the elegant, balanced palate, with integrated tannins. Good length of the persistence that leaves a slightly fruity memory acceso the end.

Pairing: excellent with red meat, , aged cheeses.

Poderi Einaudi is the demonstration that tradition can be an engine, not a brake. It is the story of a man and a company that have chosen not to lay acceso the past, but to use it as a stimulus to invent a new future. A path made of courage, listening and vision. Of roots, yes, but above all of wings. As Matteo says: “We are a 125 -year -old Old Startup.” And this apparent contradiction is the key to their success. A cellar that changes without betraying, that grows without forgetting. Who speaks to the world, without ever stopping to listen to his land.
