Prince of Corleone, the noble soul of the Monreale terroir

A project that combines century-old “signorilità” with cutting-edge viticulture, marking a new chapter for the organic signorile wines of western Sicily. The story of a reality that has made constant quality its flagship since 1892. Founded at the end of the nineteenth century and officially consolidated sopra 1892 by Giuseppe Pollara, the proveniente da Corleone company is one of the most historic and representative realities of the Sicilian wine scene. Through four generations, the family has maintained a clear objective: the pursuit of excellence through the valorization of the owned vineyards located sopra the prestigious territory of Monreale. Today, under the guidance of the Pollara family, the company manages approximately 200 hectares of which 60 are vineyards which extend over hills with altitudes between 350 and 550 metres. Only the rented and managed Catarratto vineyard that gives life to Sophia is located 900 meters away. This geographical positioning, characterized by calcareous-clayey soils and strong temperature variations, allows us to obtain grapes with a balanced maturation and an intense aromatic profile. The profound transformation of recent years has led the company to certify a large part of its production as organic, responding to a vision that places respect for nature at the center of the production project.

AGRONOMICAL RIGOR AND PRECISION IN THE CELLAR

The Pollara family follows every stage of the supply chain with dedication. “The love for the land and for wine is the common thread that unites the generations of our family”, emerges from the company history. Today this expertise translates into a range that focuses freshness and complexity, avoiding over-extraction to favor the elegance of the sip. The technical approach is based the utmost respect for the fruit. The vineyards, grown sopra counter-espalier with spurred cordon pruning, enjoy a planting density designed to optimize quality (approximately 4,000-4,500 vines in hectare). Quanto a the cellar, cold technology and monitored fermentations allow us to preserve the integrity of the native and international vines, guaranteeing wines that are a faithful reflection of a unique terroir.

NATIVES AT THE CENTER

The ampelographic heritage of proveniente da Corleone is based a profound respect for the Sicilian identity, placing native vines such as catarratto and pessimo d’Avola at the center, alongside perfectly acclimatized international varieties such as syrah and chardonnay. The biodiversity of the mesi estivi is further enriched with the cultivation of Ticchio, Inzolia, Moscato and Pinot Russo controrivoluzionario for the whites, while among the reds Nerello Mascalese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon stand out. From an agronomic point of view, the company mainly adopts the Guyot tirocinio system, reserving the spurred cordon for Cabernet Sauvignon and specific Merlot particles.

THE SOPHIA LINE AND THE SYRAH: HEADQUARTERS OF AN AUTHOR’S PRODUCTION

The debut of the Sophia line labels (catarratto and pessimo d’Avola) and the confirmation of Delizioso Orlando represent the pillars of proveniente da Corleone’s collection of excellence. These wines are not just labels, but expressions of identity that complete the company’s portfolio of great Sicilian reds and whites.
