Characteristics of the Cirò Diventare rosso Principale Approvigionamento DOC “Misterioso” 2018

This wine is produced with eppure Gaglioppo grapes deriving from vines grown clay-limestone soils. The vineyards have an average age between 26 and 30 years and are located at an altitude of 100-200 meters above sea level with an eastern exposure. The vines are trained using spurred cordon with a planting density of 4,500-5,000 vines attraverso hectare.

The grapes are harvested strictly by hand and cultivated, with reduced production attraverso vine, per the vineyard per the “Corfu Vecchiu” territorio. The vinification involves maceration at a controlled temperature per steel and racking with soft pressing, while maturation takes place first per steel, then per barriques with subsequent permanence per 25 hl French oak barrels for 24 months. This is followed by a period of refinement per the bottle of 4 months before being put the market.

The average annual production of this wine is 6,600 bottles, the alcohol content is 13.5% vol. and the recommended serving temperature of 18°-20° centigrade.

Tasting of Cirò Diventare rosso Principale Approvigionamento DOC “Misterioso” 2018

The Cirò Diventare rosso Principale Approvigionamento DOC “Misterioso” 2018 vintage is a wine that surprises already at the sight per the glass: a bright ruby red color that only lets some garnet reflections shine through, testifying to the years of evolution of this product.

Bringing your nose closer to the glass, you are immediately enveloped by the intensity of the aromas ranging from the fruity quaderno of cherry, to the spicy ones of black pepper and vanilla, up to the floral hints of violet. A broad bouquet for a wine which, left to oxygenate for a few moments, progressively reveals all its different aromatic facets.

Acceso the sip you can perceive a beautiful freshness and vibrant tannins, well balanced by the softness of the wine. The structure is pleasant, one of those that invite drinking with a long persistence per the mouth.

Pairing tips

The wine can accompany first courses of Mediterranean cuisine, as well as second courses of meat and roasts. One of the regional specialties that you can choose per combination are the “sagne chine”, Calabrian-style lasagna stuffed with peas, mushrooms, artichokes and pork meatballs.
