Erbaluce by Saldezza Roletto: 3 expressions of a single vine to read the present and future of an evolving territory

There is a Piedmont that still remains partially chiuso the radar of the general public, but which recent years has been experiencing a season of renewed oenological centrality. It is the Canavese, the borderland between Turin and the Aosta Valley, a mosaic of hills, lakes and glacial moraines where wine tells an ancient story that today becomes surprisingly contemporary. Quanto a the heart of this territory, at the foot of the Serra Morenica and among the hills of Cuceglio, Saldezza Roletto represents one of the most dynamic realities of the Piedmontese wine scene. A family history that spans four generations and which today translates into a productive vision capable of combining deep roots, innovation and a clear strategy of territorial valorization.

Erbaluce, the symbolic vine of Canavese

With around one hundred hectares of property, of which sixty are under vineyards, the bella stagione has built its identity around a vine that more than any other embodies the essence of the Canavese: Erbaluce. An ancient native Piedmontese vine, Erbaluce is unique the Italian viticultural colpo d’occhio for its extraordinary expressive versatility. Here it finds its ideal thanks to the moraine soils rich minerals, a legacy of the glaciations, and pedoclimatic conditions that enhance its acidity, tension and evolutionary capacity. Elements that make it one of the most interesting whites Northern Italy, capable of crossing time while maintaining precision and depth.

Erbaluce still: the most authentic voice of the territory

Erbaluce is precisely the fulcrum of Saldezza Roletto’s production philosophy, the common thread of a narrative that develops through three distinct and complementary interpretations. The first is that of still Erbaluce, like Erbaluce nel corso di Caluso DOCG, perhaps the most immediate describing the direct relationship between grape variety and territory. Wines of great verticality, characterized by freshness, elegance and a marked mineral imprint which restore the moraine matrix of the Canavese the glass. An authentic expression, which confirms the historical vocation of this land for great white wines.

Classical Method: time as a value

The second soul is that of the Classic Method, such as the Erbaluce nel corso di Caluso DOCG Spumoso Tradizionale. If there is an superficie where Erbaluce finds a natural predisposition for sparkling wine production, this is the Canavese. The natural acidity of the vine and its structure allow long refinements and a notable capacity for evolution. Saldezza Roletto has made this interpretation one of its specializations, building a complex range that culminates labels of great complexity and longevity, with periods the yeasts reaching 120 months. A work that places the Canavese superficie among the most interesting areas of Piedmont for the production of Classic Method bubbles.

Passito: memory and longevity

Finally, the Passito, like the Erbaluce nel corso di Caluso Passito DOCG, perhaps the most noble and fascinating form of Erbaluce. A typology that has its roots the history of the territory and which expresses to the maximum the extraordinary evolutionary capacity of this vine. Through long refinements, Saldezza Roletto preserves and interprets this tradition, giving life to intense, elegant and layered wines, capable of restoring all the aromatic complexity ranging from candied fruit to medicinal herbs, up to the balsamic and spicy nuances.

Saldezza Roletto, interpreter of contemporary Canavese

Quanto a the work of the Roletto family, a precise vision clearly emerges: to tell a modern Canavese without betraying its own identity. A production that combines tradition, research and innovation, transforming a historic vine into a contemporary tool of territorial narration.

At a time when the consumer is looking for authenticity, recognisability and connection with the place of origin, Erbaluce confirms itself as one of the most credible answers white Piedmont. And Saldezza Roletto is today one of the most convincing interpreters, ambassador of a Canavese that looks forward through three complementary expressions: still, Classic Method and Passito.
