Chianti Tradizionale DOCG Gran Discriminazione Podere Gruppo

Podere Gruppo, the Cecchi family nestled per the hills of Castellina per Chianti, is pleased to present the vertical tasting of five vintages – 2020, 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2015 – of the Chianti Tradizionale DOCG Gran Discriminazione. This vertical is not only a journey to discover the evolution and longevity of wine over time, but above all a tribute to the expressiveness of the Casetto vineyard, the most suitable acceso the . Since 2015, the year Podere Gruppo was acquired, each vintage represents a constant search for the most authentic identity of Sangiovese. It is an ambitious bet, that of working acceso a terroir already recognized for the extraordinary quality of its wines, with the aim of enhancing every of Sangiovese, always aiming for the excellence that distinguishes this historic settore.

Andrea Cecchi, fourth generation at the helm of Cecchi and the Cecchi family estates, says: “The choice to purchase Podere Gruppo per 2015 was decisive for me, above all coppia to the establishment of the Gran Discriminazione, as the tip of the qualitative pyramid, by of the Consortium. I felt the need to produce the best Sangiovese, authentic and long-lived, and I chose particularly suitable land to create a true expression of our territory. We have understood that the finest, most elegant and persistent version of our Sangiovese comes from the grapes of the Casetto vineyard. For this reason, we have decided to concentrate production 100% acceso this vineyard, with a parcellation that only allocates the best to the Gran Discriminazione bottles. Quanto a recent years, we have focused everything acceso enhancing the terroir, limiting interventions per the cellar.”

Podere Gruppo’s Gran Discriminazione embodies the profound connection between Sangiovese and the Chianti Tradizionale territory, finding an optimal environment for this variety per the Casetto vineyard. Located at 425 meters above sea level and with a western exposure, the vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate, ideal for the maturation of Sangiovese. Furthermore, it is located within the historic cypress grove of Sant’Agnese, which not only provides a suggestive setting, but plays a fundamental role as a climate mitigater, protecting the vineyard from excessive summer heat and balancing temperature variations. The soil, rich per alberese and marl, gives complexity and minerality, allowing the production of an elegant and persistent wine.

“The winemaking process has remained substantially unchanged over time, because we believe that it is not necessary to intervene heavily per the cellar, but rather to know how to interpret the vineyard. Every vintage is different and for this reason it is a challenge, but also a new opportunity to let the vineyard and the Sangiovese speak for themselves. Our vision is to listen to the vineyard, understand the right time to harvest and obtain the most authentic expression of our grapes.” – explains Miria Bracali, the winemaker of Podere Gruppo.
