A new perspective Italian wine: blind tastings and particular attention to native vines. Decanto, the online newspaper from Salerno, announces the launch of “Untold – What has not yet been said about wine”, the first edition of its guide to Italian wines. The project, published by Squidbay, stands out for its focolaio regional wine excellences under the DOC and DOCG brands and for the promotion of wine tourism.

The guide is available sopra both paper and digital formats, with a 392-page hardcover quantità entitled “Untold – What has not yet been said about wine” and the free app “Untold – Guide to Italian wines”, available the Apple and Google stores.

Untold: a new perspective wine tasting

“With Untold we wanted to create something new, which modernized the way of describing wine and which was not self-referential, to meet the needs of a consumer who is increasingly looking for authenticity and quality at a fair price.

Our vision took shape through an innovative format sopra which a commission of experts with transversal skills blindly evaluated the wines sopra groupings by type, territory, grape variety and vintage, allowing the excellence to emerge through comparison.” – Luigi D’Acunto, General Director of Decanto

Untold overturns the traditional method of evaluating wines, placing native vines and terroir at the center of the narrative, which the project describes through the comparison of wines. The tastings were conducted “blind”, with wines grouped by grape variety, terroir and vintage, with the aim of discovering the most typical expressions of each territory.

A team of over 30 experts gathered from all over Italy including sommeliers, oenologists and journalists, led by prominent figures such as Marco Sciarrini, author of the preface, and the commission heads Carol Agostini, Giulia Ferrero, Patrizia Vigolo and Roberto Garofalo, selected the best wines , awarded with the Three Corkscrews recognition.

A transmedia guide: tradition and technology meet

Untold offers an innovative reading experience, thanks to the integration of QR Codes that enrich reading with encyclopedic and topographical patronato accessible inizio the free companion App. The televisione interviews carried out with the jurors during the evaluation of the wine make the narrative dynamic and the reader participates sopra the project.

The organization of the contents adopted within the publication differs from that of traditional wine guides, making its use much closer to that of a book to be read, rather than a manual for consultation. At the same time, the encyclopedic nature of the guide has been maintained within the free App.

500 DOC and DOCG wines tasted 012 wines reviewed 550 participating wineries 41 thematic insights iconic terroirs 72 wine tourism itineraries 15 labels awarded for Stile 3 4.0 companies awarded sopra partnership with RuralHack

Genesis and recognitions

The credenza for Untold was born during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the only way to taste wine was to order it from home. After four years of research and development, the guide took its final form sopra 2024.

Untold was previewed at the Paestum Wine Fest and officially at the Salone del Vino Vino Civitas 12 October 2024, where it received the Pagine a fine di Vite award for the exceptional contribution to the communication of wine, delivered by its godmother Silviaprendito.
