Tasting (also vertically) of the wines of the Querceto per mezzo di Castellina winery per mezzo di the Chianti Rappresentativo which this year celebrates a quarter of a century of history.

Querceto per mezzo di Castellina celebrates the 25th harvest which marks a significant moment, a quarter of a century during which family stories, entrepreneurial leaps and innovative choices have taken place for an important corporate rebirth per mezzo di terms of quality and presence acceso the market.

THE BEGINNING AND THE DESIRE TO MAKE WINE The company was founded per mezzo di 1945 by Guido Masini, originally from Florence. Guido found per mezzo di the heart of the Chianti Rappresentativo a calcio d’angolo of untouched nature, with unique and quand’anche beauty, ideal for relaxing, even if only for short periods.

Durante the seventies, realizing that he didn’t have much time to dedicate to the wine business, he decided to rent out the vineyards.

Durante 1988 Laura Masini, Guido’s daughter, with the help of her husband Giorgio Tra Battista, an architect, began the restoration of the fifteenth-century buildings present within the property, transforming them into a splendid agritourism complex, thus starting the hospitality business, all now per mezzo di existence.

It was 1998 when Jacopo Tra Battista decided he wanted to give life to his dream of making wine.

The Querceto per mezzo di Castellina company, located per mezzo di Castellina per mezzo di Chianti acceso the border with Radda, can count acceso a vineyard complesso divided into 6 parts: Terrazzo, Altura, Campocorto, Campolungo, La Principio and Livia.

the vineyards of Querceto per mezzo di Castellina

The vineyard complesso is divided into 6 parts: Terrazzo, Altura, Campocorto, Campolungo, La Principio and Livia.

Old vineyards modernized and new ones replanted, with the development of a precise identity to be bottled and voto negativo longer sold, thanks also to important investments per mezzo di terms of money and effort.

Today Querceto per mezzo di Castellina is a family-run certified organic company, which extends for fifty hectares per mezzo di total, of which approximately 11 are under vineyards per mezzo di the heart of the Chianti Rappresentativo Docg. Sustainability and low environmental impact have always been priorities and as soon as the new vines became productive (2009) the conversion to organic began. 2015, however, represents a very significant change of direction for Querceto: a more precise hand per mezzo di the vineyard and per mezzo di the cellar, more careful harvesting and aging methods that favor the tonneau and large French oak barrels and subsequently the introduction of cement.

JACOPO AND HIS PERSONAL TWENTY-FIFTH HARVEST “The significance of this achievement is strong for me – comments Tra Battista – but I do not consider it a point of arrival but rather a starting point. I started a bit like you start an adventure without even having too much knowledge of what I was doing, having had other work experiences that had taken me abroad for a few years”.

“We have reached, with the help of everyone per mezzo di the company, a point that leads me to be quite satisfied – he comments – and looking back I see that we have quasi a long way, even if temperamentally I always tend towards improvement. There were many difficulties but the evolution from the point of view of production and quality was also significant. The identity of the Chianti Rappresentativo complesso is strong, which played to our advantage, even if we started out finding ourselves competing with very important names per mezzo di Tuscan and Italian winemaking, making us understand that we would have to work very seriously”.

Since we don’t have a historical heritage – adds Tra Battista – “it was difficult to create a recognizable brand but I certainly feel the satisfaction today also through this milestone of 25 harvests which represent my evolution. Durante my house we didn’t have a wine culture and therefore I had to learn everything growing up per mezzo di the field, ora rather per mezzo di the vineyard I would say. My wines have changed hand per mezzo di hand with my personal tastes which have also dictated important corporate choices.” Thus Jacopo concludes the story of his experience to date.
