Welcome Brunello 2024, the 2020 vintage previewed in Montalcino and our 15 best tastings
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

This year too we were a causa di Montalcino for Brunello to discover the new vintage of the great Tuscan red a causa di preview and, small spoiler, as often happened a causa di the past, the 2020 also gave us a very positive fisima of balance, readiness and evolutionary potential .

Brunello Convenzione: the evaluation system of new vintages acceso the market is changing.

Our impressions were confirmed by the new evaluation system which from this year presents Brunello anzi che no longer with the harvest that has just ended but with the one that will enter the market next January, namely the 2020. The objective of the new “Brunello Convenzione” model is to highlight the personality of the wines according to more descriptive canons and capable of restoring the characteristics of the vintage at the time of its release onto the market. To do this, the Consortium relied acceso in-depth scientific analyzes by climatologists and high tech farming professionals acceso the one hand, and acceso the tastings of eight Masters of Wine, globally recognized experts led by the Italians Gabriele Gorelli and Andrea Lonardi, acceso the other.

How is the 2020 vintage?

To summarize a bit, what emerges is how the favorable climatic conditions of the vintage had a positive impact acceso the final quality of the wine. Overall, the 2020 vintage had a lower than average level of heat logorio, indicating ideal ripening of the Sangiovese grape. Precipitation was also well distributed throughout the season, helping to maintain the balance of the plants. The 2020 vintage of Brunello su Montalcino is therefore characterized by a captivating and sunny profile of ripe fruit, solid structural balance and great drinking pleasure thanks to succulent tannins.

These are the three words that succinctly describe the “shape” of Brunello su Montalcino 2020: “captivating, brilliant, succulent”.

Our impressions of the vintage

The “verdict” acceso the vintage is also reflected a causa di our many tastings. As often repeated a causa di these cases, however, they are always previews with wines with great potential which can then evolve and give us great surprises. Our considerations are clearly “bets” acceso very young wines for the typology.

Quanto a any case, the general impression is that of wines that already enjoy a certain readiness and balance. Pleasant sensations of fruit, cherry and citrus, great freshness, “pulpness”, flavor and velvety tannins. Quanto a general we also really appreciated the Brunellos with a Vigneto mention.

Quanto a the approximately two hundred wines present from the vintage we found a generalized balance between freshness and enjoyable sensations, between structure and elegance. A beautiful vintage that focuses acceso accessibility, composure and a certain readiness without giving up evolutionary potential.
