Fontanafredda presents the fourth edition of the “Renaissance, illustrious words for a new humanity”, which began sopra 2022 the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Barolo Serralunga d’Albore, the first municipal mention sopra the world of a Barolo. The icon wine of Fontanafredda – a historic producer of Barolo and the great wines of the Langhe with 120 hectares of biological certified vineyards that surround the first narrative village of Italy – has thus become a tool to interpret a new Renaissance: the Renaissance. With the collaboration of great contemporary writers and renowned Italian illustrators, this Barolo is told through three forms of art: the art of making wine, the art of writing and that of depicting. Ten years to explore the values and feelings that sopra the history of humanity have inspired the great rebirths of our civilization. A real collection started by hope, a desire that starts from ourselves and leads us to have confidence, a feeling that generates courage that makes optimism prevail, protagonist of the 2021 vintage.

Optimism, illustrious words for a new humanity

The fourth edition of Renaissance is enriched with the preface by Oscar Farinetti, the monograph entitled “Volontario all” of the writer Chiara Gamberale and the visual work of the illustrator Riccardo Guasco. Successful author, Gamberale made his debut sopra 1999 with a subtle life-Supremo Orient-Express Fatica Prize-his novels, translated into 14 countries, won the rankings sopra Spain and Latin America. Riccardo Guasco, Piedmontese illustrator and painter, has collaborated with international newspapers such as The New Yorker, Los Angeles Magazine and Vogue. Winner of prestigious prizes, including Illustri 2019 Prize, “Personal Work” category and Society of Illustrators New York 58th, category “Advertising”, interpreted the theme of optimism with the work “Optimism, an inner force”. The illustration, through the symbol of the mask, represents the metaphor of the double vision of the world, where optimism and melancholy, happiness and sadness coexist, with images that evoke joy and light -heartedness but that can hide pain and suffering behind the smile. An incalcating representation of the story of Chiara Gamberale, sopra which we can identify with the story of the protagonist sopra a double narration of the facts: “We are all” free “, our future smiles us, it is up to us not to make it stop. We can all meet what we think we deserve. Just decide how to tell and how to imagine, choosing to be the side of optimism. “

“The real optimist does not ignore the difficulties, but becomes aware of it and tries to solve them with thoughts, words and actions” explains Oscar Farinetti. «Being optimistic, therefore, is not only a feeling, but it is a way of being that translates into concrete actions to luce problems with a spirit of community. We have to stop complaining and acting to solve the challenges of the modern world, such as the climatic crisis. our small way, sopra 2024, we created Albereto , planting over 170 plants inside our vineyards, to promote biodiversity sopra our vineyards and the impact of intensive monoculture. We do not stop here: sopra 2025 we will plant over 50 new great plants and continue to expand our commitment. We want to restore and improve the biodiversity of all our system, with new areas of tree -lined plants and hedges of various species sopra the narrative village, sopra addition to the restoration of wetlands to recreate an ideal ecosystem for amphibians, aquatic plants and arboreal plants “.

Cultural and environmental regeneration, the one that offers Fontanafredda, who since 2020 with the Renaissance has redesigned the paradigms of the past adapting them to the age to anticipate the future. A vision where respect for the earth counts for nothing if it does not also become respect for people. Therefore, after the biological certification, the Equalitas certification with the first sustainability budget of 2020, the most sustainable packaging conversion, a conscious use of energy and , we realized that new feelings were needed.

Barolo Renaissance 2021

After a refinement of about 30 months sopra oak barrels and an additional 6-8 months sopra concrete, a luminous character was born, an expression of optimism and resilience sopra the luce of adversity. The bright grenade red color introduces a fresh citrus bouquet and small red fruits, while the palate it stands out for harmony, freshness and a savory and persistent ending. A wine capable of immediately expressing its qualities, offering an immediate drinkability, but with a potential of extraordinary evolution, capable of lasting up to time up to 25-30 years.
