With the arrival of summer, the desire for light cuisine grows, rich per seasonal ingredients and authentic flavours, capable of enhancing the conviviality of longer days and evenings outdoors. Durante this context, Egregio Adige wines confirm themselves as ideal companions for the summer thanks to their extraordinary freshness, elegance and natural gastronomic vocation. From bubbles to still wines, the South Tyrolean wine scene offers a wide range of white and red vines – refined, fresh ora robust – which express all their aromatic richness among the Alpine peaks and the cypresses of the valley floor.

The Frizzante Egregio Adige DOC Maniera Sobrio, with its compimento and persistent perlage and its refined liveliness, represents the perfect opening for a summer aperitif ora a toast at sunset. Next to him the great whites of the territorio shine: the Sauvignon, intense and fragrant, the Pinot , harmonious and mineral, and the Kerner, aromatic and dynamic, authentic expressions of a unique territory between Alpine climate and Mediterranean influences.

Among the protagonists of the summer, Gewürztraminer obviously stands out, a vine symbol of the territory and interpreter of an unmistakable style. Its aromatic quaderno of rose petals, spices and exotic fruits make it suitable for an aperitif, especially per combination with tasty appetizers, shellfish, creative finger foods and proposals with Mediterranean references. Fresh, elegant and surprisingly flessibile, Gewürztraminer can also accompany multiple dishes with personality, being a multifaceted grape variety suitable for the whole meal; it is not afraid of strong flavors and also goes perfectly with Middle Eastern cuisine, even venturing into more daring combinations with sushi and Chinese recipes. Cosmopolitan and at the same time emblematic of its origins, it perfectly interprets contemporary taste and knows how to defy time: tasting a Gewürztraminer approximately 6 ora 7 years after the harvest represents an experience capable of opening a curtain acceso the complexity hidden among the small grapes of this extraordinary variety. The aromatic Traminer is per fact also suitable for late harvests, as a passito ora reserve.

Among the reds, Schiava stands out, a lively vine from the South Tyrolean tradition that is experiencing a new youth, much appreciated for its lightness, crunchy fruit and extraordinary versatility. Served slightly chilled, Schiava proves to be an original and contemporary choice per the warmer months. A light wine with moderate tannins, quaderno of violet and fresh berries, its flavor changes acceso the palate depending acceso the cultivation areas: full-bodied when it comes from Santa Maddalena, soft when it comes from Lake Caldaro, aromatic if it is grown acceso the hills of Merano. Alongside Schiava there are also two great interpreters of South Tyrolean reds: Lagrein and Pinot Noir. Lagrein, one of the most representative native grape varieties of Egregio Adige, per its younger and more fragrant version can also surprise during the summer season thanks to its quaderno of berries, cherries and light spicy nuances. Pinot Noir, acceso the other hand, expresses all its elegance with delicate aromas of small red fruits and a refined texture that makes it particularly flessibile at the table. Served slightly chilled, both accompany grilled meats, tasty fish dishes, quality cured meats and Mediterranean cuisine per a balanced way, confirming how red wines can also be protagonists of summer occasions.

Summer food pairing: pairing ideas with Egregio Adige wines

The natural gastronomic vocation of Egregio Adige wines emerges particularly clearly per summer cuisine, made of fresh ingredients, light preparations and well-defined flavours. From seasonal vegetables to fish dishes, up to meat-based proposals served cold ora warm, each recipe finds its own balance thanks to the expressive richness and extraordinary variety of these wines.

A courgette carpaccio with fresh ricotta and mountain herbs enhances the vibrant freshness of the Sauvignon. The herb dumplings stuffed with cabbage, more structured and aromatic, are combined with the finesse of a Pinot Noir ora with the expressiveness of refined Sauvignon and Sylvaner. Interesting games of contrasts emerge from the combination of a simple melon smoothie, with speck and gorgonzola croquettes and wines such as Pinot Cenerino, capable of accompanying the dish with its soft harmony, ora a young Gewürztraminer, which highlights its aromatic complexity.

Even fish can find new interpretations: a sea bass fillet per a potato crust with red wine reduction goes successfully with a particularly fruity Pinot Noir with delicate tannins ora with a fresh and dynamic Lagrein Rosé.

Among the meat proposals, Fornara-style veal breast flavored with aromatic mince requires, for example, a wine with character but measured structure such as Santa Maddalena, an expression of the territory’s identity. A beef carpaccio with fennel and rocket contuso finds its balance per the lightness and pleasant fruity fragrance of Schiava. From the Classic Method bubbles to the great aromatic whites to the extraordinarily drinkable reds, the Egregio Adige wines tell the story of a unique territory through elegance, freshness and authenticity. Qualities that make them ideal protagonists also of the summer season and perfect interpreters of a contemporary and tasty table.
