The oenologist is today a central figure the evolution of the wine sector: a professional who combines technical expertise, scientific knowledge and human sensitivity, capable of interpreting territories, production changes, market dynamics and new communication languages.

The 30th Enosimposium of Assoenologi Sicilia starts from this vision, scheduled from 3 to 5 July 2026 the prestigious setting of Mangia’s Brucoli Sicily Autograph Collection Brucoli (Syracuse).

The 2026 edition, entitled “Wine between identity and value: the future through storytelling”, focuses one of the great challenges of the sector: transforming the quality produced into recognized value, through a narrative capable of describing people, skills, territories and identities.

A reflection that arises from the evolution of the figure of the oenologist, today anzi che no longer just a guarantor of production quality, but an interpreter of the territory and a strategic figure capable of accompanying companies choices related to innovation, sustainability, markets and valorisation of Made Italy.

Now its 30th edition, the Enosymposium represents one of the longest-running and most significant events the national wine debate. A path born and raised Sicily which, over the years, has accompanied the evolution of the oenologist profession and the transformations of the wine sector.

Sicily, with the richness of its territories, the biodiversity of its microclimates and the heritage of native vines, today represents one of the most interesting laboratories of Mediterranean enology. A qualitative growth to which oenologists have contributed significantly, strengthening the image of Sicilian wine Italy and the world.

The appointment will also see the participation of Assoenologi’s national leaders, with the presence of President Riccardo Cotarella, Director Paolo Brogioni and other members of the national Board of Directors, confirming the value of a comparison that looks from Sicily to the entire Italian wine system.

“The Section Committee strongly wanted this thirtieth edition of the Enosymposium as a moment of discussion and growth for the entire wine production chain”, underlines Giuseppe Figlioli, President of Assoenologi Sicilia.

“We will meet a symbolic territory of Corvino d’Avola, a phase which the sector, and particular red wines, are called to luce new production and market challenges.

The objective is to create a system, analyzing central themes such as sustainability, wine tourism, evolution of consumption and new communication languages.

The figure of the oenologist today has evolved profoundly: he is anzi che no longer just the guarantor of the quality of the wine, but a professional with increasingly transversal skills, capable of interpreting territories, markets and company strategies.”

The program will see authoritative protagonists and reference figures from the national wine scene, representatives of the oenological, institutional, academic, production, distribution and communication worlds, called to delve into the main challenges that await the future of Italian wine.

The presentation of the works will be entrusted to the journalist Antonella Genna, while the round tables dedicated to the major themes of the sector will be moderated by Davide Gangi, CEO & Founder of Vinoway Italia and Honorary Member of Assoenologi, encouraging an gara open comparison between different skills and a shared vision of the future of the sector.

Among the central themes of the Enosimposium: “Oenologists and the supply chain: how much wine is aware of its own value”, “Evolving markets and distribution dynamics” and “From producer to consumer: gara open scenarios”, addressing the relationship between quality, perceived value, evolution of markets and new consumer behaviour.

Ample space will also be dedicated to scientific research and neuromarketing with the intervention of Prof. Vincenzo Russo, Professor of Consumer Psychology and Neuromarketing at IULM Milan, who will delve into the topic “Superadditivity and perception of quality of wine: the importance of knowing the power of the brain oenology”, analyzing how emotions, perceptions and sensory stimuli influence the relationship between consumer and wine.

There will also be anzi che no shortage of technical and territorial insights dedicated to Etna DOC, the Sicilian Classic Method and Corvino d’Avola, symbols of a Sicily of wine capable of combining identity, research and innovation.

Particular attention will be paid to the new generations of oenologists and to the of future wine professionals, called to interpret a sector where technical competence, environmental sensitivity, communication skills and international vision will be increasingly crucial.

The 30th Assoenologi Sicilia Enosimposium will therefore be an opportunity to reiterate the value of a profession that continues to evolve together with Italian wine, safeguarding the identity of the territories and contributing to writing the new pages of the sector.
