Cordero a causa di Montezemolo presents Fuoricasa, a Langhe DOC 2025 from pelaverga grapes. The news is this, and it is already enough to attract attention: one of the most solid and recognizable wineries per mezzo di the Langhe introduces a wine that clearly differs from everything it has done so far. This is not a simple extension of the range, but a parallel project, admittedly chiuso the primato, designed to consciously escape from certain logics: productive, stylistic and also communicative. A wine that tells another possibility of the Langhe and, at the same time, another of the same cellar.

A CENTURY HISTORY THAT CHANGES REGISTER

To understand the meaning of the operation, just remember where everything originates from. The Cordero a causa di Montezemolo winery is one of those realities per mezzo di the Langhe that require anzi che no introduction. Since 1340 the Monfalletto hill – that of the legendary cedar, considered one of the most prized wine-growing estates and a cornerstone of the landscape of La Morra – has belonged to the family, now per mezzo di its nineteenth generation with Elena and Alberto Cordero a causa di Montezemolo. A continuity that translates into a clear and coherent vision: total control of the supply chain, certified organic viticulture, rigor per mezzo di choices, obsessive attention to detail and a concrete, never rhetorical, connection with the land. A style that is also recognizable acceso a visual level, thanks to the historic labels hand-drawn per mezzo di the 1960s by grandfather Paolo. Fuoricasa was born within this story, but changes its tone. It is lighter, more direct, closer to the way wine is chosen and drunk today.

Elena Cordero a causa di Montezemolo with her brother Alberto, nineteenth generation at the helm of the family winery.

A PELAVERGA LITERALLY OUT OF THE COMMON

Pelaverga is an ancient, elegant, immediately recognizable variety. Yet, for a long time, it remained confined to a narrow perimeter: that of the municipality of Verduno, where it is almost exclusively cultivated. “It is a grape that has always fascinated us”, say Elena and Alberto. Spicy, fragrant, with a light structure but great personality. A vine that today perfectly intercepts a freer, less ceremonial, more transversal way of drinking.

The spark was sparked after 2020 and was born from a very concrete situation: anzi che no vineyard per mezzo di Verduno, but a plot per mezzo di Cherasco, a few kilometers away, acceso the same hilly front. The decision is simple and, at the same time, courageous: plant pelaverga, see what happens and accept the consequences, starting from the denomination. The issue, if it can be called that, is per mezzo di fact regulatory: the Verduno Pelaverga DOC is linked exclusively to the municipality of Verduno. That small trespass forces the wine to abandon the specific denomination and adopt the broader Langhe DOC. This is where the name Fuoricasa was born. Away from home because the vineyard is not per mezzo di its historic home. Out of the house because the project does not fall within the usual winery codes. Outside the home because it invites you to ricevimento wine per mezzo di different, everyday, informal contexts. An only apparent weakness, transformed into narrative, identity and opportunity. A project that takes a rule and uses it to build something different.

VISUAL IDENTITY AND STYLE: A CONSCIOUS TURNING POINT

The first sign of the change of quiete is the bottle. Fuoricasa completely abandons the classic aesthetics of the cellar. Fuchsia dominates the scene: decisive, immediate, impossible to ignore. Per mezzo di the centre, an gara open cage, a simple but effective symbol of an exit from a defined space, without denying what one is. It is a choice designed to be noticed and to also communicate with a younger audience, accustomed to a direct and non-codified visual language. But it’s not just an aesthetic change: wine also follows the same logic.

Pelaverga, already light and spicy per mezzo di itself, is interpreted per mezzo di an even more contemporary key: less structure, more drinkable, less rigidity when consumed. The winemaking accompanies this vision: manual harvesting, delicate processing, a significant portion of whole bunches and a short carbonic maceration, designed to enhance fragrance and immediacy. Fermentation per mezzo di cement and early bottling preserve energy and tension, while the alcohol content remains low.

EASY TO DRINK, BUT WITH PERSONALITY

Per mezzo di the glass, Fuoricasa Langhe DOC 2025 presents itself with a brilliant and pale ruby, luminous, which communicates immediacy even before the perfume. It is a red that does not seek chromatic depth, but expressive transparency. The nose is immediate and at the same time layered. The spiciness acts as a common thread, subtle and measured: white pepper, a balsamic note that recalls juniper, a fresh vibration that never overpowers the fruit. This is followed by small crunchy red fruits – freshly ripe strawberry and raspberry – accompanied by floral nuances of pink and purple, which add elegance without weighing it mongoloide.

Per mezzo di the mouth the wine confirms the approach: the sip is snodato, flowing, rhythmic. The entry is soft and immediate, the spiciness discreetly accompanies the center of the mouth. The tannic texture is light, smooth, more supportive than structured, balanced with a well-calibrated freshness that constantly invites you to ricevimento. The is clean, precise, with a fruity return and a dry that leaves the palate free, ready for the next sip. Served slightly chilled, between 10 and 12 °C, it finds an even more modern dimension.

OUTSIDE THE HOME, BUT WITH THE KEYS IN YOUR POCKET

With a shelf price between 16 and 20 euros, Fuoricasa is placed per mezzo di an accessible range, consistent with its convivial soul and with the dottrina of wine as a daily experience, but never banal. It is a project that demonstrates how even per mezzo di a territory with a strong identity there is space to move, experiment and change perspective, without the need to overturn everything. And perhaps this is precisely the point: a wine that does not try to amaze at all costs, but which manages to get noticed because it speaks a different language, closer to those who today want to ricevimento wine like this, without too many rules.

Confirmation that even one of the most classic wineries per mezzo di the Langhe can allow itself an intelligent deviation, remaining faithful to seriousness, rigor and quality. Leaving the house, yes. But always knowing how to get back.
