Cesari inaugurates the Caveau Bosan and launches a limited edition
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

There are more than 10 thousand bottles of Amarone della Valpolicella Sobrio Bosan kept durante the new Caveau Bosan inaugurated durante Fumane at the headquarters of Cesari, a historic company from Valpolicella and pioneer durante the esportazione of Amarone overseas. A heritage that links the past to the present over a period of 18 years – from the first vintage durante 1997 to 2015, the most recent acceso the market.

The new Caveau, positioned durante the beating heart of the cellar, is an evocative place with the warm tones of the natural wood of the barrels and the burgundy red of the furnishings with a space dedicated to vertical tastings durante full immersion. Per mezzo di the center of the vault, a floor shows all the ancient vintages of Amarone Bosan acceso a white and gold label, and the current one with a black and silver label.

To celebrate this moment, Cesari launched the Perpendicolare Storica: a limited edition box with three iconic vintages of Amarone Bosan : 2015, 2010 and 2001. “Thanks to the territory which boasts completely different temperatures compared to the surrounding areas, Amarone Bosan is characterized by taste-olfactory elegance, with a marked acidic, fresh note which gives it liveliness durante tasting and which, together with an integrated and elegant, it allows him to have an incredible confidence with time”, comments the winemaker Michele .

“Amarone Bosan is the stylistic representation of that dottrina of elegance of Amarone that we have durante Cesari – highlights Giovanni , general director of Cesari – a long-lived wine with great potential, which can be appreciated as soon as it is put acceso the market can remain durante the cellar to be discovered after even twenty-five, thirty years. The Caveau inaugurated today and the possible vertical tasting experiences are tangible proof of this great potential.”

EIGHT MACROZONES FOR 140 HECTARES

The Cesari company was founded durante 1936 and the first esportazione of Amarone to the United States dates back to 1973. Caviro invested durante Cesari durante 2014 and then acquired it completely durante 2017. Currently the production and reception part is located durante Marano per mezzo di Valpolicella while durante Cavaion we find another structure dedicated mostly to refinement.

The company has 140 hectares including a portion of grape suppliers. “Initially – underlines – we started with the Marketing Dirigente Nicolò Maroni to define a new strategic plan and a correct rebranding policy having the classic production ambiente of Valpolicella as a point of reference. The objective is to give value to these lands durante the belief that they can influence the production style, of Amarone durante particular, increasing its drinkability and elegance without excesses of power and opulence. We first divided the 140 hectares into 8 macrozones with specific characteristics to be known and with the aim of grouping and subdividing all the suppliers of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes. And then we formed a team of professionals to manage the vineyard, also with dedicated software, durante all aspects: management and phytosanitary treatments first and foremost.”

“We prepare a weekly weather bulletin – highlights the oenologist – which we send to all winemakers including a guideline for the correct agronomic management of the vineyard. It is different from ambiente to ambiente considering that the problems to be faced are often different: durante the plains we have more problems paio to downy mildew, durante the hills to powdery mildew”. “For grapes – underlines – there is a qualitative pyramid that starts from bunch-by-bunch control before it ends up durante the fruit shop. The internal analysis laboratory helps us acceso all this and allows us to collect important information acceso how much before vinification the grapes are subject to mandatory certification by a third trattenimento”.

“SPECIAL” BOSAN VINEYARD, HANDMADE

The Bosan Vineyard, trained using the Veronese bersò, extends for ten hectares starting from Pozzan durante Marano per mezzo di Valpolicella at 500 meters above sea level (some suppliers have vineyards even at 600 meters) and rests acceso a volcanic and mixed limestone territory. It is a monoculture ambiente but years punzone there were cherry trees and other fruit trees. Now, durante addition to the vineyard, we find some olive trees, a crop that is increasingly productive and profitable durante Valpolicella.

The Bosan vineyard lies with a north-south orientation and is terraced with 4.5 km of dry stone walls (marogne). It enjoys the influence of Lake Garda which is 20 kilometers away as the crow flies and which plays an important role durante mitigating temperatures. It is worked completely by hand.

For Bosan, after the traditional drying and vinification, the aging period lasts 3 years durante French barriques to conclude with 15 months of refinement durante the bottle.

HISTORICAL VERTICAL TASTE

Vertically crossing all the Bosan vintages present durante Caveau – from 1997 to 2015 – an aromatic thread is highlighted that goes beyond the hints of ripe fruit, jam and spices. They are the freshest and most balsamic , which then also strengthen acceso the palate. This confirms that we are faced with an Amarone that stands out to the extent that it expresses the characteristics of the territory with distinctive flavors and aromas. Per mezzo di particular, beyond the special occasion for tasting the 1997, the 2003, 2006 and 2012 vintages are particularly intriguing.

The vintages of the Perpendicolare Storica limited edition, available acceso the market durante wine shops and restaurants, are 2015, 2010 and 2001.

Bosan Amarone della Valpolicella Sobrio Docg 2015

The 2015 vintage was affected by climatic excesses which subjected the vine to considerable tensione. The peak temperatures reached during the winter and durante the following months exceeded twenty-year records, particularly durante July. The above-average rainfall at the beginning of the year contrasted with a rain-free April.

At sight it presents a deep garnet color. the nose, concentrated aromas of jam and morello cherry, plum and dark chocolate are revealed, with suggestions of black truffle and liquorice. the palate it is full, with softness and roundness to balance the alcohol content. The is long, persistent, of great complexity.

Bosan Amarone della Valpolicella Sobrio Docg 2010

The 2010 vintage was marked by a long and cold winter, with a rainy February. Spring had a slow start, with temperatures durante March below average, delaying the vegetative growth. April, May and June were also characterized by frequent rains and temperature changes, complicating work durante the vineyard. The summer saw temperatures slightly below average and abundant rainfall, but the temperature changes at the end of summer optimized the accumulation of sugars and anthocyanins, favoring good ripening of the bunches. The harvest, which began durante line with the historical average, benefited from light rains without impact acceso the harvest. Overall, 2010 proved to be a cool year, with optimal yields per certo hectare, but it required careful agronomic management.

Very dark color, deep garnet. the nose, concentrated jam and morello cherry, plum and dark chocolate. Memories of black truffle and liquorice. the palate, it is full, very alcoholic, soft, round and of great balance. Long, persistent and highly complex . Excellent with red meats, braised meats, roasts and mature cheeses.

Amarone Bosan Riserva 2010

Bosan Amarone della Valpolicella Doc 2001

Bud fermata occurred early thanks to good spring rainfall and temperatures slightly higher than the seasonal average. The subsequent stabilization of the weather allowed normal flowering and regular fruit set. The month of June saw good rainfall which allowed the maintenance of an excellent vegetative balance and did not hinder the complete veraison of all the varieties. The ripening of the grapes therefore continued at the right times, allowing for an excellent harvest.

Bosan 2001 is balanced from an organoleptic point of view, with a marked acidity which brings with it high drinkability. The characteristic cherry odore is integrated with hints of spices, cocoa and vanilla. the palate it is full and velvety, it shows all its power durante an exuberant, warm and elegant .
