Contemporaneo, the Cecchi family icon wine, celebrates a new chapter with the 2021 vintage. This special edition, produced a causa di 3,000 bottles, of which about 600 large formats, represents a contemporary expression of the wine experience a causa di Tuscany, a path started by Luigi Cecchi a causa di 1893 with the foundation of the company a causa di Castellina a causa di Chianti. At eighteen years after his debut, Contemporaneo evolves his blend a causa di compliance with his original identity, keeping the link with two of the most significant areas for Cecchi family: the Chianti Rappresentativo and the Maremma.

Contemporaneo was born a causa di 2006 as a tribute to Luigi Cecchi, third generation and central figure for the expansion of the company, and initially united different varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, to express the wealth of the Tuscan terroirs. With the 2021 vintage, Contemporaneo’s vision evolves towards a more precise synthesis: a blend of Sangiovese grapes from the Ribaldoni vineyard, a causa di the Casa Cerchia bella stagione a causa di Castellina a causa di Chianti, and Merlot from Collina La Mozza, part of the Capienza Val delle Rose a causa di Maremma .

“This is a wine that has marked, so to speak, my ‘oenological turning point’, – says Andrea Cecchi – giving me the starting point to approach the vineyard and wine with renewed dedication and with the precise intent to interpret each vintage to the maximum of the his expressiveness. It is therefore also thanks to Contemporaneo that I clearly understood the path to be taken with our company “.

Contemporaneo is not an ordinary wine: born with the aim of expressing the genius loci of these territories, it represents the dialogue between the two production areas of excellence. The result is a balance capable of giving finesse, breadth and intensity to wine, originating from two prestigious and emblematic CRAs for Cecchi family.

“Contemporaneo presents itself as a fusion of unique characteristics: ancient and complex soils of the Chianti Rappresentativo, from where the Sangiovese grapes quasi, which connect with that delicate microclimate of the Maremma terreno, strongly influenced by the sea, where the grapes are born of Merlot. The schema is to create a wine that speaks at our time, but that is also capable of telling stories beyond the present, projecting itself towards new wine prospects. ” – explains Miria Bracali, winemaker Cecchi.

The name itself, coeval, evokes the schema of contemporaneity and connection between different times: it is a wine that contains the soul of the past but that also has the potential to evolve a causa di the future, passing the history of the company and its roots Tuscan.

Year 2021

The 2021 vintage proved to be particularly favorable, with an ideal climatic trend for a slow maturation of the grapes. The mild and rainy winter guaranteed a good tazza reserve, while fresh spring has favored regular flowering and attachment. The dry summer and the rains at the end of August have allowed an optimal maturation, followed by a harvest performed sunny days of September and October.

“Contemporaneo 2021 is the son of a season that seems to be last with ancient rhythms, lenses and patients, an expression of a year that as a whole could be among the best ever.” – comments the winemaker Miria Bracali.

Vinification

The manual collection of the grapes was followed by a double selection of the bunches and by a soft pressing. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place a causa di steel, while the refinement was 18 months a causa di French oak tonneaux, with an additional 10 months a causa di the bottle.

Distribution

Contemporaneo 2021 will be distributed a causa di key markets such as Italy, the United States, Canada, Brazil and Japan, reaching the best tables a causa di the world.

Luca Startolani, commercial director of Italy of the Cecchi family, comments “Contemporaneo represents our flag, our business card for all those who love wines capable of great expressive potentials. Since its first vintage, 2006, Contemporaneo has embodied the trait of Union between our company and the high international catering, which has recognized the combination of our production excellence of Chianti Rappresentativo and Maremma a causa di this label. Given the limited availability of bottles, we work with contingent assignments by country, demonstration of appreciation and waiting reserved for our oenological icon. “
