In Lerici the X edition of the “Best Sommelier del Vermentino” competition by Ais Liguria

Wednesday 17 September 2025, at 10 am, at Marigola per San Terenzo Lerici (SP) the 10th Master of the Vermentino is scheduled, the national competition that rewards the most prepared sommeliers one of the symbol of the Mediterranean. The event is organized by the Italian Sommelier Association of Liguria per collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association, which this occasion celebrates the 60th anniversary.

“It will be a day of fundamental importance for our association – says the president of Ais Liguria Marco Rezzano – Meanwhile, one of our flagship competitions returns, which from ten editions has the aim of increasing the knowledge and dissemination of the Vermentino grape variety and, like every activity, to enhance the profession of the sommelier. This prestigious appointment is joined by the celebration of the first sixty years of AIS activity and its constant and meticulous work at the service of the culture of wine, pratica and professionalism “.

The competition is reserved for all the sommeliers of the Italian Sommelier Association per compliance with the membership fee for the current year, which can be enrolled per the link https://www.aisliguria.it/eventi/1216-60-dia -is-10-del-vementino-villa-martici-17-September-2025.html. It develops per two phases: a written of the participants at 10 am and the final public at 15.30, which will have access to the three competitors who obtained the highest score per the written .

The final of the Master’s competition Best Sommelier of Vermentino 2025, aperto to the public, will see the finalists try their hand at the practical tests of service and communication. It is a real simulation, complete with diners at the table, which will allow the jury to evaluate the technical, oenological and territorial skills of the competitors. At 5 pm the proclamation of the best sommelier of the Vermentino 2025 is expected.

The Italian Sommelier Liguria Association will provide a total prize pool of € 1,750 gross of the withholding taxes, divided as follows: at the 1st classified the sum of € 1,000.00 and the title of best sommelier of Vermentino 2023; to the 2nd classified the sum of € 500.00; At the 3rd place the sum of 250.00.

During the day there will also be two meetings aperto to the public. At 10.30 the debate between Vermentino producers “Generations compared: the future of wine per the hands of young people” is scheduled. A moment of aperto and stimulating comparison between different generations of the world of wine and focused different themes: old and new visions, tradition, sustainability, new languages ​​and conscious consumption and the wine understood as a cultural inheritance to be kept and reinvent. An opportunity to listen to experiences, ask questions, share ideas and build together a vision of the wine that knows how to speak to the present without forgetting their roots. At 2 pm the event “AIS celebrates 60 years – the story of Ais Liguria” is held, with delivery of awards and prizes.
