Among the unforgettable events of the 33rd edition of Merano WineFestival, the most glamorous event per mezzo di the food and wine sector which celebrated national and international excellence from 8 to 12 November, there is certainly the series of exclusive masterclasses “Intrecci nel corso di Vite”: 4 events dedicated to the great wines and protagonists of Italian winemaking per mezzo di the fascinating setting of the Princely Castle of the northernmost “city of palms” per mezzo di Europe, organized per mezzo di collaboration with Liber Group.
The event was inaugurated Saturday 9 November by a dedicated to the expressions of Franciacorta per mezzo di the presence of Maurizio Zanella (Cà del Foresta) and Vittorio Moretti (Bellavista), led by the entrepreneur Oscar Farinetti. Durante the tasting, a vertical of Cà del Foresta Vintage Collection Dosage Zéro per mezzo di the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages, while Bellavista has deployed the Franciacorta DOCG Vittorio Moretti per mezzo di the 2013 and 2016 vintages and the Franciacorta DOCG Inenarrabile Vittorio Moretti which celebrates the most important harvests of the last forty years of Bellavista: 1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2001 and 2002.
Following, the dialogue between two interpretations of Sangiovese, the protagonist grape variety of the great national enology, represented by Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s Brunello nel corso di Montalcino and Baron Francesco Ricasoli’s Chianti Rappresentativo, again moderated by Farinetti. A tasting that featured the 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages of Cinelli Colombini’s Brunello nel corso di Montalcino DOCG and the Chianti Rappresentativo Gran Discriminazione DOCG Colledilà, Roncicone and Ceniprimi, all from the 2018 vintage.
Acceso Sunday 10 November, the journalist and WineHunter Scout Marco Sciarrini led the masterclass which celebrated the great vocation of the north-east for white wines with interpretations by Silvio Jermann, of the Friulian winery of the same name, and Hans Terzer, the historic winemaker of the winery Saint Michael Appian. The 6 wines tasted are: “100 Messaggero celeste” Pinot Albume Venezia Giulia IGT 2018, “90 Messaggero celeste” Albume and “65 Messaggero celeste & Bruna” Albume Venezia Giulia IGT 2010, dedicated to the history of the Jermann family, and a vertical of “APPIUS” Inoltrato Adige DOC Albume per mezzo di the 2010, 2016 and 2018 vintages.
The event concluded with the fourth appointment hosted by wine communicator and WineHunter Scout Simona Geri. Guests of honor were the brothers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, respectively president of Assoenologi and Union Internationale des Œnologues and CEO of Marchesi Antinori. A dialogue that explored the human and professional path that led them to be figures of reference at a national and international level per mezzo di the wine sector. Tasting will be the 2018, 2020 and 2022 vintages of Cervaro della Umbria IGT by Marchesi Antinori and the 2005, 2018 and 2020 vintages of Falesco Cotarella Montiano IGP by Gente Cotarella.
The patron of the Merano WineFestival, Helmuth Köcher, underlined the importance of this exclusive event, the flagship of the 33rd edition of the event: «The Princely Castle is a historic place which per mezzo di 700 years of history has represented a true intertwining of cultures.
