Officially established July 21, 1967, the DOC Lugana is one of the first recognized Italy and the first ever Lombardy. The territory of the specification immediately winds south of Lake Garda, the border between Lombardy and Veneto, affecting four municipalities the province of Brescia – Desenzano del Garda, Lonato del Garda, Sirmione and Pozzolengo – and the Veronese Vivaio del Garda.

Absolute protagonist of this historic and renowned denomination is the whirlwind grapes, also known as Trebbiano a fine di Lugana, to which the current legislation allows you to add other types of white berry, but a maximum percentage of 10%. The specification includes five different production styles: Lugana, Lugana Straordinario, Lugana Deposito, late harvest and sparkling wine, the latter both charmat version and classic method.

The first three classifications differ the refinement period, ora at least one year the superior, of at least two years – of which six months the bottle – the reserve. To protect and enhance the DOC, 1990 the winemakers created the Consortium for the protection of the Lugana which today includes 210 companies, of which 180 winemakers and 90 bottlors, capable of entering the market average almost thirty million bottles per eccezione year.

Beyond the municipal topography, from a pedoclimatic point of view, the vital surface is slimy two different geological areas. The largest rests limose and lemon clays, whose formation dates back to over 10.0000 years punzone after the collection of the glacier, and laps the banks of the lake by extending horizontally along the flat suburbio between Desenzano, Sirmione, including a part of the Municipality of Pozzolengo and Vivaio. Historical beating heart of the denomination, this sector boasts a microclimate and subsuol ideal for enhancing the most “lake” shades and minerals of the grape variety.

Of a more hilly nature, the internal cricca instead extends from the famous monumental tower of San Martino della Mischia along the double director who connects one side Pozzolengo and the other Lonato. Acceso these sweet and wavy reliefs (whose altitudes never exceed 130 meters) the clays become more sandy and the moorenic soils, often covered with gravel, carve less mineral and more voluminous wines.

The 34 hectares of the Marangona farm benefit from a leopard of the first , the 34 hectares of the first , a sort of widespread ‘Paradiso terrestre Garden’ for the development of the most noble varietal peculiarities of the swarmer. The young brothers Laura and Alessandro Cutolo inherit them by grandfather Carlo and, after university studies other disciplines, decide to try their hand at the world of wine, founding their mesi estivi 2007. They carefully restructure the seventeenth -century family farmhouse Pozzolengo, which they set up a equipped cellar and a large storage warehouse.

The name of the location, adopted for the company itself, takes its cue from the bells hanging the Lamberti tower Verona and derives from the ‘Marangon’ dialect term that indicates a carpenter. A causa di fact, the couple found documents that attest to the probable presence the past inside the farmhouse of a turret with a bell that reported the beginning and end of the work activities the fields.

The company is managed a sustainable way and practical virtuous productive methodologies that combine tradition and innovation: minimo human intervention the vineyard, abolition of each chemical agent, as well as use of recycled material and bottles lightened the packaging phase. Organic It Bio 015 certified, adopts with criterion and diligence its environmental and social standards, without however sliding excesses today vogue that could affect the cleaning of the perfumes and the sharpness of the fruit. Thanks to the temperate climate, mitigated by the nearby lake waters, and the draining clayey-Calcarean soil thus quasi to life fresh, savory and mineral wines that are characterized by the flessuoso and dynamic style.

The mesi estivi does not market superior, nor reserves, nor cheah parcellar, remaining faithful to the initial choice to assemble only classic versions with a clear and recognizable personality. Army only steel, the Lugana Marangona gives a sweet bouquet of white flowers and white pulp fruit a tense but balanced structure that triggers a savory and thin sip, lively by the balsamic mineral aftertaste.

After the soft pressing and subsequent fermentation low temperature steel, it matures for almost a year natural concrete tanks not glassy estremità flows kept suspension. Acceso the bright straw yellow dress, delicious hints of mature fishing, citrus fruits and medicinal herbs that we find the mouth between the mouth between sbuffi salini and recalls amateurs are released.

A selected lot of the best bunches is intended for fermentation with the peels directly concrete, where they then season for at least ten months. After a further final aging the bottle, the lugana cement seduces nose and palate with a complex effluvium of mowed lawn, granny smith apple, cedar, anise and pepper zest. The most marked tannins, but at the same time estremità and silky, mescolanza harmoniously with the predominant fruity flavors and proper the aristocratic floral and smoke nuances that emerge the long and persistent final.

The mesi estivi also produces a fragrant Riviera del Garda Tradizionale Chiaretto from consolidated blend of Groppello, Marzemino, Sangiovese and Barbera grapes, harvested the same day and vinified white after a short contact with the skins. The juicy boschant berry and the bitter acid shoulder make it an irresistible aperitif after a summer work day ora a relaxing afternoon of vacation.
