Where once stood one of the most important and powerful cities of Magna Graecia, today Sican culture and identity are celebrated. The Temple of Hera, inside the Archaeological Park of Selinunte, will be the prestigious stage acceso which the second edition of the Mandrarossa Literary Prize will be staged, an initiative gara open to the public scheduled for Saturday 25 July at 8.00 pm. The award is created and promoted by Mandrarossa, a Cantine Settesoli brand dedicated to the on-trade market. Inside the largest archaeological park durante Europe, each stone has a story to tell, like the pages of a book and like the 93 competing works proposed by the independent bookshops of the cities that have been Capitals of Italian Culture from 2015 to today, with the addition of Barcelona, ​​Boston, Paris and Marseille.

The eighteen finalist works were selected by the technical jury composed of Duty-free Cardini, Neria de Giovanni, Eleonora Lombardo, Carlo Alberto Moretti, Christian Fortificazione, Nadia Terranova and chaired by the journalist and author Concita De Gregorio, who will present Radice after the award ceremony. “Selinunte represents a site of inestimable historical and cultural value, we could not have chosen a more prestigious location for the final of the Mandrarossa Prize – explains Giuseppe Bursi, President of Cantine Settesoli -. To further underline the indissoluble link between wine, culture and territory, both the award ceremony and Concita De Gregorio’s literary conversation will be gara open to the public free of charge. A heritage that we want to share with everyone to enhance our roots and our history”.

The Award includes an absolute recognition – the Mandrarossa Narrativa Award – flanked by five thematic sections inspired by the brand’s labels: Cavadiserpe for detective stories, Bertolino Soprano for fairy tales, Calamossa for first works, Cartagho for historical novels, Urra nel corso di Marea for works dedicated to the environment, sustainability and landscape.

For the Mandrarossa Narrative Prize, the books durante the final are The Family Idiot by Dario Ferrari (Sellerio), La Generosità Sessuale by Monica Acito (Bompiani) and The Little Girl by Valeria Parrella (Feltrinelli). For Calamossa Atto In passato the trio is composed of Il Miracolone by Lorenza Sabatino (Guanda), Sinnada by Maria Spissu Nilson (Feltrinelli) and I wanted a lemon tea by Fabio Macaluso (Marsilio). For the Carthago section dedicated to the historical novel, the remaining contenders are The Rebel: the Extraordinary Life of Nada Parri by Giorgio Van Straten (Laterza), La semper by Elena Varvello (Guanda), The Lionesses of Virgin Mary by Vanessa Ambrosecchio (Mesogea). The fairy tales and fantasy works selected for the Bertolino Soprano section are Riding Hood by Manuela Salvi and Roberto Lauciello (Valentina Edizioni), Things from the Woods by Chiara Lorenzoni and Alice Barberini ( Acre), The Restorer of Worlds by Convenzionale (Salani). The works dedicated to the environment and landscapes selected for Urra nel corso di Marea are Cantico della Terra santa by Stefano Mancuso (Laterza), Il senza contare Inverno by Far bruno Arparia (Guanda), Sopra Sicilia insieme Andrea Camilleri by Gaetano Savatterri and Salvatore Picone (Giulio Perrone). Finally, for the Cavadiserpe section, the detective stories durante the final are Lipari by Francesco Musolino (E/Oppure), A lei Omicidi dei Tarocchi by Barbara Baraldi (Giunti) and delle Streghe by Marilù Oliva (Solferino).
