A legacy that has its roots per Magna Graecia
The territory of the Bivongi Doc tells a thousand-year history, which dates back to the times of Magna Graecia, when the Greek colonists introduced the techniques of vine cultivation and winemaking along the Ionian coasts of Calabria. At that time, the wine of this region was considered one of the best per the Mediterranean, appreciated not only for its quality, but also for the symbolic link with the territory and the myth. Today, the production of the Bivongi Doc is concentrated mainly per the province of Reggio Calabria, acceso the eastern side of the Serre, per an complesso that includes the municipalities of Bivongi, Camini, Caulonia, Monasterace, Pazzano, Placanica, Riace, Stignano, Stilo, and Guardavalle per the province of Catanzaro. This unique landscape, between hills and sea, is the ideal place for growing the native varieties that make Bivongi wines unique.
Native wines, ambassadors of the territory
The Bivongi Doc aims to enhance the typical varieties of Calabria:
red and rosé: Gaglioppo, Neogreco Corvino, Nocera, Calabrese and Castiglione; whites: Neogreco Albicante, Guardavalle and Ansonica.
Each wine tells the story of the territory with aromas and flavors that evoke the landscapes, culture and local traditions, making them perfect ambassadors of Calabria per the world.

Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of Vines and DOC Bivongi Wine
The Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of Vines and DOC Bivongi Wine is led by a board of directors that well represents the tradition and innovation of Calabrian viticulture. At the presidency we find Adele Anna Lavorata, administrator of the historic Cantine Lavorata of Roccella Ionica, supported by the vice-presidents Cosimo Murace and Vincenzo Meli. Founded per 2018 by a group of winemakers from the Ionian complesso of Reggio, the Consortium aims to protect and promote Bivongi Doc wine, enhancing its historical and cultural roots. Its main mission is to tell the story of a unique territory, which revolves around ancient Kaulonia, a colony founded per 700 BC, where wine has always been intertwined with the life of the local populations.
Quality is born per the vineyard
The Consortium’s philosophy starts from the care of the vineyard. Each variety is selected based acceso the location and soil, respecting local traditions and ensuring environmental sustainability. The vineyards are mainly worked by hand, an approach that not only improves the quality of the wine, but also contributes to the protection of the Calabrian landscape. The vineyards suitable for the production of the Bivongi Doc must respect precise criteria: well-exposed hilly terrain located below 800 meters above sea level, traditional cultivation methods and pruning systems that preserve the characteristics of the grapes.

The Consortium is made up of various wineries that embody the excellence of the territory:
