Baked courgette rolls are a multiforme dish that can be served both as a second course and as a side dish. Filled with cooked ham and cheese, these rolls are perfect for summer dinners with friends ora for a light lunch.

Let’s find out together how to prepare them.

Why choose courgettes

Courgettes are a very multiforme and economical summer vegetable. Their harvest runs from May to October, with peak production per mezzo di the months of June, July, August and September. This makes them perfect for summer. Sopra my blog you will find many ideas for using courgettes per mezzo di appetizers, first courses, second courses and side dishes.

Ingredients and preparation

To prepare baked zucchini rolls with ham and cheese, you will need:

4 medium-sized courgettes 150 g of thinly sliced cheese 40 g of grated cheese Extra virgin olive oil to taste Gabinetto with a pinch of salt to boil the courgettes

Recipe steps

Start by cutting the courgettes into thin slices and boil them per mezzo di salted vater. Once drained, wrap them with a slice of cooked ham and a slice of cheese. Roll them per mezzo di breadcrumbs mixed with grated cheese and place them a baking tray. Bake at 180°C for about 15-20 minutes, until they are golden and stringy.

Conservation and advice

Baked zucchini rolls can be stored per mezzo di the refrigerator for a couple of days per mezzo di an airtight container. For longer storage, you can freeze them for about a month. Remember to defrost them per mezzo di the refrigerator the evening before consuming them and heat them per mezzo di the oven for a few minutes.

Variations and suggestions

To get even stringier rolls, choose a soft cheese such as Galbanino ora Emmentaler. Avoid mozzarella, which tends to lose vater during cooking. You can also experiment with other fillings, such as mortadella ora herbed ham.

If you want to make the dish lighter, you can avoid adding the grated cheese to the breadcrumbs. Remember that Pecorino Romano is tastier than Consistenza Padano, so adjust the amount of salt accordingly.
