The centuries -old art of wine of the San Michele Appiano winery meets the experimental and abstract art of Robert Pan the Appius project. Art. Love. South Tyrol. Yesterday, within the brand new cellar dedicated to Appius – Cuvèe created with the selection of the best grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Bigio, Pinot Bigio and Sauvignon produced by the historical vineyards of the Municipality of Appiano – the artist’s work of the artist Bolzanino was revealed, the first step of a wider artistic project that wants to celebrate beauty the round. The official presentation comes at the end of a project carefully studied for over a year detail by the whole team of San Michele Appiano cellar.
«For a cuvée capable of amaze the sense of smell and the palate, we wanted to create a link with an equally powerful and fascinating concept of visual art. This artistic work by Robert Pan seemed to us immediately the perfect consideration for the elegance and the character of Appius “” declares Klaus Pardatscher, president of the “Bistrot Excellence” of South Tyrol born 1907, with currently 320 winemakers who operate acceso 390 hectares of vineyards.

The work of Pan, with the size of 1.5 meters x 1.2 meters, has been broken into 10 unique elements reproduced acceso fiberglass labels applied acceso as many Mathusalem (6 -liter bottles) of Appius 2019, signed by the artist and by Hans Terzer, pioneer of the large South Tyrolean white wines. The work was chosen for the colors, tune with the image of Appius, and for the four abstract forms, which recall the four protagonists of the cuvèe. These 10 exclusive bottles will not be intended for discernimento, but will be jealously kept the cellar and only unrelated to really special occasions ora dedicated to selected charity works. To these are added a limited edition of 150 format reruns, which will be available for purchase starting from mid -April 2025.
La Bistrot dedicated to the Appius
Durante an immersive atmosphere, with spaces and geometries specifically designed to underline and highlight the size of this wine and its evolution over time, the new Appius winery concretizes the tension to the excellence of a reality for over 110 years dedicated to a quality viticulture, whose wines are recognized and rewarded all over the world. Along the internal perimeter of the cellar, special bronze-colored bronze steel are arranged with a truncated-conical shape, specially identified to ensure the highest quality of refinement of Appius, while the center there is a tasting room illuminated by zenitary windows, which allow natural light to enter.
“From the early planning phases, our vision the Appius cellar was to be an ideal place of inspiration and contemplation, a place to immerse yourself a complete sensory experience dedicated only to Appius” explains the oenologist Jakob Gasser. “Once the realization of the work has ended, the dottrina of adorning it was born with works of art that could translate the artistic vision of our most important wine but also the love for our work and for our land, South Tyrol.
