The winemaker Scantinato Morellino nato da Scansano launches the San Bruzio Vermentino Maremma Toscana Doc 2023 acceso the market, a wine that challenges the traditional canons of the grape, exploring its evolutionary potential. With this label, the Maremma cooperative aims to enhance a Vermentino capable of maturing over time, expanding its aromatic and structural complexity.
“For some time we wanted to experiment with the prolonged aging of the Vermentino,” says Prospero Grechi, president of the winemaker Scantinato Morellino nato da Scansano. “San Bruzio was born to explore new dimensions of this grape variety, which Maremma has found its ideal ambiente”. The utopia is inspired by the analysis of the historical vintages of the Virmini Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC vineyard, which has shown how the Vermentino can acquire depth over time. The name “San Bruzio” recalls the medieval canonical homonymous near Magliano Tuscany, a symbol of resilience and historical memory.
The vineyard, cultivated with a rammed cordon acceso sandblast soils at 120 meters above sea level, follows a harvest two phases: a third of the grapes is collected with optimal and refrigerated maturation, while the rest is left acceso the plant for two more weeks, favoring aromatic concentration.
