Perfectly healthy grapes and already excellent results whites. The 2025 vintage of Spaccio in Venosa promises great wines. Harvest the Moscato grapes and the Merlot of the mathematician, award -winning red of the Lucana Cooperative. The collection of the Malvasia of Basilicata also began, with an eye to the weather pending the Eglianico del Vulture, at the end of September, early October.

The point of the oenologist Donato Civile: “mild winter, dry spring, perfectly healthy grapes. We expect great wines”.

President Francesco Perillo: “Only 10% of harvest less than the contributions scheduled by the shareholders, but this year compared to 2024 the numbers will also be important”.

The 2025 harvest of Spaccio in Venosa shows a strong recovery of quantities and a confirmation quality. 2024 had been characterized by an early 20 -day collection and, the historical average, by almost halved numbers: the microclimate and altitude of the vineyards had however ensured perfectly mature grapes and important acidity values.

The 2025 is characterized, however, for an epoca of harvest that returns to normal, with just 3-4 days per advance the historical average and with the expectation of a strong recovery of the quantities produced. Also confirmed the high quality and healthcare of grapes. Moscato and Merlot are the varieties already collected by the members of the Lucana Cooperative, who now begin the harvest of the Malvasia of Basilicata and, at the end of the month, of the Eglianic of Vulture.

This is the trend of the vintage: a mild winter, not very cold and with few snowfalls the heights, which had not happened for years. Per mezzo di addition, relatively fresh and dry spring compared to the past has allowed to have a good vegetative start per the vineyards. The result is that the plants have achieved the harvest per conditions of excellent health and with white grapes which, from the first findings, have a nice acidity, thanks also to a month of May that has had temperatures slightly below the average.

“This especially for the whites and the rosés that we are going to produce means a trend with greater accumulation of acids, therefore more freshness, verticality and perfumes -explains Donato Civile, the winemaker of Spaccio in Venosa -. The first vendesmmies let us understand that an excellent vintage is presented. We have completed the collection of the Moscato and we find a 10-15% increase per production, a slight recovery per quantity compared to the last two vintages, collapse of the yields.

“The quality is high, the grapes are perfectly intact, they have mai problem of diseases and are maturing well -underlines the president of Spaccio in Venosa, Francesco Perillo -. Per mezzo di addition to this we foresee a nice recovery of the quantities compared to the Ossuto 2024. We await September and the harvest of the Saglianico. Time permitting -hopes Perillo -the 2025 will be remembered among the best”.
