The “Ethical Agriculture” award at Cantina di Venosa

It was Cantina di Venosa that won the “Ethical farming” classification of the “Agriworld Talk. Company Stories. Individuals. Established in 1957 by 27 members, Cantina di Venosa is today a cooperative (the just red wine cooperative in Basilicata and amongst the most crucial in southern Italy) of 350 wine makers (over 50% young) and 800 hectares of vineyards, with a yield of 50 thousand quintals of grapes (90% Aglianico) and 35 thousand hectoliters of red wine. In general it produces 2 million bottles – out of a capacity of 5 million – plus 60% of bulk red wine. There are 24 labels, mainly Aglianico del Vulture, both Doc and Docg.
