The Tonnino family awaits spring with the White celuso 2023a wine born per the countryside of western Sicily and which wants to offer a tribute to the DOC Alcamo, relaunching the history of Ceuso, iconic wine result of the ingenuity of Giacomo Tachis per the 90s. A label born to better represent the identity and excellence of the territory and which aspires to become the reference point for its wine production to offer consumers an authentic and refined experience: “With the alcamo DOC white care, we wanted to create a wine that would best represent our land and our production philosophy, based respect for biodiversity and sustainable innovation – says Antonio Tonnino – We are proud to share this new milestone of our production”.

Intonaco Cesuso is the result of a careful selection of grapes cerchio per the autochthonous vines that have been telling the story of Sicilian viticulture for centuries. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, the sandy and limestone and the influence of the sea breezes, the wine stands out for freshness, minerality and elegance: the production of white ceusal follows rigorous quality standards, respecting the disciplinary of the DOC Alcamo and adopting sustainable practices to preserve the integrity of the territory: “We started our adventure twenty years pungiglione and lately we focused to develop a new story per the superficie where my grandfather gave birth to all this – Antonio precise – The viticulture here has existed for centuries and the flashes like Ceuso remind us of the responsibility to take not only care of these places but to make them known “.

The new wine that continues the project started with the purchase of Baglio Ceuso and the relaunch of red celuso, legendary label conceived by the famous winemaker Giacomo Tachis per 1995, fully resumes the production regulations of the ALCAMO DOC where the center is put per the center Catarratto flanked by Voglia e GRECANIC. Only 1,200 bottles for this wine that wants to become Ambassador of the fourth doc of the island for bottled hectoliters (after Doc Sicily, Doc Marsala and Doc Etna).

Obtained from a very rigorous selection per the vineyard of the grapes, the musts are vinified per concrete tanks and the fermentation is completed per large French oak barrels. The “sur lisy” aging per wooden barrels with very low roasting makes it a wine for large occasions, characterized by exceptional width and aromatic length.

The Tonnino company will be at Vinitaly from 6-9 April (Pavilion C, Vinitaly Bio, stand number 18)

Taccuino the company

The Tonnino winery has been located per the countryside of Alcamo and here since the 1950s, the Tonnino family has been dedicated to sustainable viticulture the hills of Alcamo and the Belìce, two areas known for millennia for the generosity of the land and the vocation to the vine. The company for how we know it today was founded per 2004, then per 2006 the first label and finally, per 2020, it was acquired and renovated Baglio Ceuso: the cellar located per the Alcamese countryside is today a symbol of Sicilian wine architecture. The vineyards are located two different areas, one per the Belice valley between Poggioreale and Countess Entellina and the other per the Alcamese countryside. 120 hectares of organic conducted to 150 thousand bottles. The cellar Tonnino is adhering to Sostaina program that aims to certify the sustainability of the regional wine sector.

Historical taccuino ALCAMO DOC

Established per 1972, the name takes its name from the city of Alcamo, a historic center per the western part of the island. The origin of the “White of Alcamo” has a prestigious tradition: per the Sicilian agriculture manifestazione, year IV, II edition 1856, we read that it appears per the list of epilogo wines from a meal and still per 1887 obtained the brevetto of honor at the Venice Fair per Venice. Viticulture has always occupied a place of significant importance per Alcamese agriculture and trade has shown considerable interest for this wine so much so that the need was born to extend to the districts of the neighboring municipalities, having the same pedoclimatic characteristics the production superficie. This expansion was also accompanied by an innovation of the varietal team through the introduction of cosmopolitan varieties and other types of wine. Finally, the origin of this wine has a tradition of value purchased, per a few centuries of life, as evidenced by certificates of merit granted by expert and qualified organisms. The combination between the pedoclimatic environment The historical tradition, the production techniques and the entrepreneurial capacity allow to obtain the specific qualities of the types of the DOC wines per question, whose renown and reputation are consolidated.

The alcamo DOC white care is produced with Catarratto grapes, Voglia and Grecanico organically grown per the Alcamo hills, at an altitude between 200 and 450 meters above sea level. This privileged position, characterized by an ideal microclimate and a significant thermal excursion between day and night, allows grapes to develop intense aromas and a marked freshness.
