Diving with a helicopter
The immersion of the case of Estratto Falernum from the Antica Distilleria Petrone chiuso the coast of Mondragone (CE) was successfully carried out Friday 7 July 2023. The 450 bottles will remain per mezzo di underwater aging for about a year the seabed near the ancient submerged Roman city of Sinuessa before being brought back to the surface.
this occasion the crate containing the bottles was immersed per mezzo di the sea from the “sky” thanks to an Air Force helicopter which took it offshore after picking it up per mezzo di Mettere in piazza Mario Redento Conte.
Estratto Falernum was per mezzo di 2021 the first ever liqueur worldwide to undergo underwater refinement. The choice fell from Let’s start with this liqueur made from berries and brandy aged for 3 years, because the name refers to the famous wine produced per mezzo di the Ager Falernus per mezzo di Roman times which reached the entire Colmare by sea from the port of Sinuessa.
“The main objective of this new immersion – declares Andrea Petrone – is to scientifically confirm the extraordinary effects of underwater aging already found by the studies of the Department of Agriculture of Naples liqueurs placed below sea level per mezzo di July 2021 and brought back to the surface last summer. Apparently the constant temperature, the total absence of light and oxygen, the movement of the currents and waves that cradle the bottles and the complete shelter from the phases of the moon have a verifiable impact the maturation of the liqueurs”.
The event was created thanks to the precious collaboration of the Municipality and the Municipal Police of Mondragone, the Coast Guard, the Air Force Association – Caserta Section, and STS Tecnici Underacquei, which took care of anchoring the cellar to the seabed and make it safe, and of YDigital Firm, a benefit company that will provide detection and monitoring supports during the entire aging process.
The fundamental collaboration with the Federico II University of Naples has also been renewed.
