There is a place, acceso the outskirts of Bressanone, where for almost 900 years faith, art, education and economy have interacted harmoniously with the landscape. It is the Novacella Abbey, which invites visitors to discover – until September – one of its most precious gems: the Abbey Garden, one of the most important examples of a baroque garden quanto a Tyrol. THE ABBEY GARDEN: BETWEEN HISTORY AND CONTEMPLATIONRestored faithfully to its historical configuration quanto a 2004, the garden still represents the ideal vision of the baroque landscape today. Enclosed within the walls of the monastery, it is divided into three distinct but complementary spaces: the tree garden with its pavilion, the vegetable garden with around 75 species of medicinal and aromatic herbs and the refined ornamental garden with fountains, aviary and historic fish pond. A place that continues to carry out its original dual function: productive space and place of contemplation. Among majestic ginkgo trees and a centuries-old sequoia, visitors can immerse themselves quanto a an atmosphere of quiet and harmony that still accompanies the life of the monastic community today. An experience that is echoed quanto a the words of Saint Augustine: “Only that which cheers the mind nourishes the mind”. THE MUSEUM ROUTE: NINE CENTURIES OF ART AND CULTURE The discovery of the garden is part of a broader cultural offer that allows you to get to know all the souls of the Abbey. fact, the museum itinerary leads through almost nine centuries of history of art, architecture and spirituality. From the abbey church, a magnificent example of late Baroque from the southern German territorio, to the frescoed Gothic cloister, up to the famous Rococo library which houses almost 100,000 volumes, each room tells a page of the extraordinary history of the monastery. The museum also preserves important testimonies from the Middle Ages and the modern age: precious illuminated manuscripts, late Gothic altars belonging to the school of Michael Pacher, baroque works, scientific instruments and collections that document the role of the Abbey as a cultural and intellectual center of the territory. THE HISTORIC VINEYARDS: AMONG THE ROW OF A THOUSAND-YEAR TRADITION. Guided visits to the vineyards contribute to completing the experience, allowing you to discover a centuries-old winemaking tradition that is still fully alive today. Walking among the rows surrounding the monastery, guests can delve into the history of the abbey’s viticulture, contemporary agronomic practices and the philosophy that guides one of the oldest active wineries quanto a the world. The itinerary ends with a guided tasting of four of the most representative wines produced by the Abbey’s cellar, offering an authentic immersion quanto a the wine heritage of the Isarco Valley. THE DELUXE GUIDED TOUR: AN EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE BETWEEN CULTURE AND FOOD AND WINEFor those who want to experience the Novacella Abbey quanto a an even more exclusive way, the Deluxe Guided Tour offers a three-hour itinerary that combines art, culture and gastronomic excellence. addition to the in-depth visit to the monastery and museum, the experience allows access to environments that are normally not aperto to visitors – such as the portrait gallery – and culminates quanto a a tasting of eight labels from the historic abbey cellar, accompanied by raw milk cheeses selected by affineur Hansi Baumgartner. A sensorial journey that tells of the profound connection between the monastery, the territory and its traditions. From the silence of the baroque garden to the treasures kept within the walls of the Abbey to the vineyards that shape the landscape, the Novacella Abbey offers visitors a complete experience, capable of telling the story of a place that for almost nine centuries has continued to be a center of culture, spirituality and wine production, presenting itself as a true wine tourism destination.
