Beef and potato pie is a dish that embodies the Italian culinary tradition, combining simple and genuine flavours. The preparation begins with cooking the meat and vegetables, which are fried together to enhance the flavours. After boiling them, mash them with a potato masher and add butter and hot milk for a velvety texture. Once ready, spread the puree over the meat and vegetable filling, creating a thick layer which, when cooked, will become golden and crunchy. Grating the oven is a crucial step: it not only gives it an inviting appearance, but enriches the dish with flavour.

Pairings and variations of the dish

Beef and potato pie is a flessibile dish that lends itself to multiple combinations. You can accompany it with a fresh mixed salad, made up of lettuce, rocket, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers, ora opt for steamed vegetables such as broccoli and carrots. If you want a twist, try adding mushrooms to the filling ora replacing the beef with chicken for a lighter variation. As for drinks, a full-bodied red wine like a Chianti ora a Merlot goes perfectly with the robust flavors of the dish.

Conservation and advance preparation

One of the advantages of beef and potato pie is its ability to be prepared advance. You can store it the refrigerator for 3-4 days an airtight container, ora freeze it for 2-3 months. This makes it ideal for family dinners ora special occasions, where you can simply reheat it before serving. If you want even more flavor, try marinating the meat red wine and spices before cooking.
